But whatever about Capitalism v Socialism, this is a community, not for profit, organisation ploughing investing its money in facilities to improve the lot of its players. It's bizarre that she would be against it. I hope she gets nailed on this, the GAA has done far more good for this country than any set of self serving politicos.

+1 AZ, spot on.
Inaugural Football Championship Prediction Winner.

the GAA is really the only large local sporting body which could afford the rent to get the gates opened.
and the rent isn't even covering the private security costs on the barracks for the year

and even then, the pitch is terrible. you wouldn't put a third string junior rugby team out on it

So what's her point then? Or yours for that matter?

I doubt if any leading member of the GAA will accuse her of being a member of Baywatch cast.

Dail does seem to have more than its fair share of maverick loons, but that's all I'll say about Fine Gael!

If you were any use you'd be playing.

Jinxy

Well, we're talking about the issue so from her perspective it's mission accomplished.

Why is the rental of public lands to the GAA commercially sensitive?  Unless it's going to them at less than market value?

Maybe Clare Daly had a point

by the GAA trying to force through an extra few concerts, on top of the One Direction gigs they have made themselves look very silly.

Rossfan

The Promoters were "trying to force through" 5 concerts ( in reality applied for licences for 5 concerts).
The GAA could have said NO but didn't.

The GAA knew that the local residents had agreed to three concerts a year. Which had already been held.

Jinxy

And yet Dublin City Council were happy to license another 3 concerts.
Probably even another 4.

no the GAA had agreement to 3 unlicenced concerts . they had to appy for a licence for any additional one.

This is actually a casee of the system working exactly as designed .
then the people the system does not Suit start complaining,

is there any legal agreement worth a damn on this 3 concert agreement pact?
