I've met plenty of arrogant people on the other side who have talked down to me as if I'm some sort of deluded eejit going through "a phase" and come back to "his" faith.

I agree and have already stated that in previous posts that there may be people on the other side of the debate whom do have faith that act just as arrogant.

It could get very tedious if we start playing the arrogance card, so let's just play the ball and not the man.

Why don't you just turn it off or get up and leave the cinema or wherever? Why stay watching it..

Well sometimes you have no choice but to sit and watch it through... If the movie wasn't your choice, to criticise the movie could be, and usually is, seen as criticising the person that picked it.... And its just not worth the hassle!!

Some great moments yesterday...Suarez run for the 1st goal & in the 2nd half when he went past Evra & Brown, Nani crying, Carroll coming on & Rushie rubbing his hands in excitement, the cheer from the Kop when he won the 1st header & I loved the Kop singing Happy Birthday to the King & his smile!!!

I think in times like this EC its better to just admit you were wrong,apologise and move on.

I'm glad you can take take the time out from celebrating to pick the image of a player in distress after a shocking tackle on him by a liverpool player as one of you're highlights of the day.

Was that before or after he done the Hokey Cokey in front of the Ref or was it when he theatrically dived to the ground crying like a 3 year old?

It was before the United medical team bandaged his leg up and stretchered him off, incidentally good to see his international team-mate felt the need to stand over him ans check he was alright all the time he was on the ground.

Yeah fair enough the guy was injured and it was a very bad takle but he didn't do himself any favours dancing around the place,if anything it could have saved Carra from getting a red card.I mean I'm sure the ref thought the the tackle must not have been that bad if Nani was able do the Macarena right after it.

I think the lads holding up signs all day on Grafton St. have a pretty soul sucking job.

There's a girl holds up a sign on a main road near where I live for some sort of shop.
I can't think of anything worse and in the name of God what is the benefit for a business to pay someone to stand and hold a sign 

Minimum wage pay and it drives traffic to your place of business in droves

Why can't they put the sign up on a pole?
Maybe more people notice it if it's someone holding it but I highly doubt that there's enough sales generated from it to justify a person's wage. Like Puck, I would never go to a place that has someone doing that.

I put up signs for a business idea of mine before but got phonecalls off the council to tell me to take them down or I would be charged with littering.Maybe thats why they have someone holding it rather than nailing them to a wall or tying them to a lamp post.
I agree though I also wouldn't go into a shop that had someone out holding a placard advertising it.

Can never understand why those who don't believe always feel the need or feel they have the right to mock those that do believe.

We've people on this board from both sides - some who believe and who think they are better than those who don't and some who don't believe and think they are better than those who do.

Both are equally annoying.

True,anyone who thinks they are better than the other is equally wrong I agree completely with you ,though you will have to point out to me who those posters are that do have faith who think they are better than those that don't.

I don't really care what anyone believes btw each to their own and all that,but IMO some of those who have no faith are often very smug and arrogant about the fact they think they are far more intelligent and wise than those who do have faith.

I'm sure it's often vice versa as well as you get c***ts in all walks of life,I'm just saying I find it more evident in those that have no faith.

You may find it more evident because the view those sort of people (like me, I'm assuming) are contrary to your own and so you notice them or take offense more. We're all much more forgiving of perceived arrogance in those who are on our side of an issue.

This thread is an internet discussion of praying and prayer, is it not? If you're offended by the tone of the discussion, then ignore the thread or don't read the offender's posts. Personally, I think religion and faith and prayer gets far, far more respect than it is due at this point in our history, and I'm going to point that out in discussions like this. And yes, I absolutely feel that many, many people are simply indoctrinated into religion, and whether out of fear or superstition or a passive contentment in their worldview, simply never seriously consider that the beliefs in which they've been brought up might not bear scrutiny. If you find those views debateable, well then address them and have a discussion, but spare us the complaining because a tiny minority of non-believers have lately begun to assert themselves and challenge the hegemony of religious belief.

For the record I couldn't give a toss what you challenge or question regarding ones religious beliefs I just don't think there is a need to be an arrogant p***k when doing so.

Carragher should have been sent off, cannot stand his constant roaring in players and referees faces, was at it yesterday after the tackle as if he felt he was being victimised.  Rafaels tackle was reckless but he was provoked by an outrageous tackle from Maxi.

Provoked me hole what a load of nonsense nrico.Rafael didn't have time to be provoked as the two incidents happened in the same passage of play milliseconds apart and even if he was provoked it doesn't excuse him.
Maxi should have got a yellow,Rafael was rightly booked I don't think he deserved a red as he didn't make contact and should be ringing Lucas today to thank him for jumping over him.
Carra did deserve a red but a United fan complaining about a player from another team roaring at Refs and players    Alanis Morissette would be proud of you with that one nrico..
