Quote from: quit yo jibbajabba on November 29, 2023, 10:21:30 AMVAR official who helped the ref make the decision stood down. Wonder why not the ref ...

There was a few other penalty calls before that one was given and the ref waved play on and didn't bother to view the screen.

True. I thought they were entitled to a penalty when Gordon (iirc) clipped someone as they ran into the box. I thought it was definately a penalty.

Unless ref. was swayed by the law of averages and thought they'd had 3 shouts....I must give one.  Not that that's how it works but just a thought.

Quote from: imtommygunn on November 29, 2023, 04:48:23 PMI don't see an awful lot of games these days but I thought McCormick (Niall) looked worth a go based on county final performance at least.

I think McLaughlin a bit young yet but I honestly think he looks a better prospect than any we have seen in antrim for years. Still a school boy so senior a bit much I think.

Far too early to be brought into the squad I reckon. He's still at school.

There's bound to be 4 or 5 club lads who would be capable of stepping up to play for the county. Lads who are 25ish and are decent club players with a good attitude.

Can't see why people are looking to bring school lads into a senior inter-county panel. Even lads who are U20 are nearly too young imo.

Players need to be a bit more physically developed and a bit more savy.
Quote from: illdecide on November 28, 2023, 04:32:18 PMLazio are not great but us away from home in CL and quite a few suspensions/injuries for tonight limits our chances further. I think BR will be forced to change formation tonight and he may well start OHH and Kyogo up front plus he has to go for it too. I'll not be holding my breath waiting on a big result that's for sure but i sure hope they prove me wrong. Nothing only 3pts tonight and we're outta Europe so they have to go for broke

Rogers can make all the changes in formation he wants but same result.

No quality in team. Average players against a poor enough Lazio team. Decent enough group but hammered out the gate in it.

Be better not going into the Champions League as it's embarrassing year on year. This year was worse.

No surprises here. No investment in the squad and Lawell and a board who only want to look after themselves. A joke.
Quote from: Blowitupref on November 28, 2023, 04:20:23 PMThe controversial proposal to remove five counties from the Allianz Hurling Leagues looks set to be shelved.

The Irish Independent reports the plan will be pulled before this weekend's meeting of the GAA's Central Council.

Proper order.

A stupid and silly proposal faciliated by football people for football people encouraged by the likes of that waffler Spillane.

Who is in it?
Trillick/Dromore v ?

Yes Dromore refused to take penalties at the end of ET apparently, but they havent been kicked out of the competition unlike other teams who've done the same previously. Would they have any powerful connections in the county board ?

Why did they not take penalties?

Is that not the standard nowadays?

Two prpoer legends.

Happy retirement but Sean Mc G will probably still take the underage teams.

Got the eldest lads renewal quote today. Up from 1550 to 2150 if pay in one hit or a cool 2450 by monthly direct debit  :'(. That's with Hughes. The sister in law got a decent quote from Admiral for her daughter so will be giving them a ring this week.

Almost £2.5k by DD.

That's serious. A con if there's ever been one.

Imagine have a few kids around that age.  It's be £5k before a key's put in the ignition.

And have they not played amalagmation teams in the St. Paul's Minor tournament in Belfast also?

Maybe other counties do it also?
Quote from: Blowitupref on November 26, 2023, 08:26:43 PMMichael Verney has been sending this around without naming the club.

All a bit flakey.

How can they mesaure this?

Think it's not the Rangers' late penalty (which is no surprise) today which is the issue but Celtic's brutal form.

Today's score take the pressure off Rogers and Lawell.

He was low to the ground, was the barely contact and to be fair he hasn't given many easy frees
Both players looked genuinely poleaxed.
Who got the yellow card then?

Clear free. Late tackle.

He gave the Trillick lad a yelliw card.

Not sure why he didn't award the free.

None of ye care about that though just the same Nordie posters with a massive chip on their shoulders about Cavan. Don't know why not like Cavan GAA has much success

Very true.

Quote from: intheknowhow on November 25, 2023, 03:14:26 PMDo Cavan people realise that the majority of counties operate their championships and leagues combined? You can lose a senior champ final in Monaghan and still be relegated.

Cavan people should be embarrassed that Arva are in the Ulster Club Junior Championship.

Fraud of a system.

Cavan need to sort out their system, to improve it for their senior, intermediate and junior teams.

Quote from: Milltown Row2 on November 24, 2023, 10:37:04 PMIs Mary Lou and SF taking potshots at how the Garda (in her words) failed to prevent that riot?

Christ the night

Not sure what her words were or what you say they were but good debate this evening on Harris and Mc Entee.

A good few political parties and people in general asking questions about the gardaí.  According to reports there was widespread info. that a gathering was going to take place and the guards were late to the party, so to speak.

This was going to kick off sometime soon and the gardaí are under-resourced and don't have the manpower.  There have been a few incidents in DCC recently - tourists getting battered etc. and Mc Entee spoofing that Dublin City Centre is safe.

This is a legacy issue going back a good few years but is part of the problem also.

The court system needs to change fast to tighten things up also and hopefully this will be the spark to get things back on the level.

So the stabbing of the children and adults created a crazy mob to come out and the Garda were at fault for not having enough police officers available (could have been for multiple reasons, under resourced or short staffed)  ah f**k it let's blame the peelers for not being on duty or close by or stay on longer for their shift to sort out a bunch of mindless whores.

If there are cutbacks then that's on the government

Let's blame the scumbags that did it, reserve any blame for them, it's like blaming a rape victim for wearing a short skirt

Who's blaming the rank and file Gardaí?

As usual, you're adding up 2 and 2 and getting order to gain anti-SF retoric traction.

It's a debate around Harris and Mc Entee.  This can be clearly seen from the 3 or 4 posts, posted by others, after my initial comment.

GDA members have no confidence in Harris. As a matter of fact, they voted a vote of no confidence in him a month or so ago.
