Im not too sure if I agree with Donál Ógs proposals on Team Ulster. Id be keen to see more investment at club level in Belfast and Derry City first. These are 2 major centres of population and if we can crack these areas you will automatically see hurling in Derry and Antrim get stronger.

Donal talks some sense but in this regard he talks some shite, but at least he's consistent with it.
He talks of giving every youngster who lifts a hurl the chance to play at the highest level no matter where they're from with this 'Team Ulster' concept, commendable, but he's never fleshed it out.
Do they play in the NHL? What level, Div1B? What level of senior championship do they come in, Leinster round robin?
Who funds it? What about all the other hurlers left behind, do Antrim also enter the NHL, do Down and Derry, Armagh, Tyrone, Fermanagh, Donegal?
Do these teams also play championship? Is there an enthusiasm for it within the hurling fraternity within Ulster?
Yeah, a load of nonsense. The more beneficial but more labour intensive solution is to expand the hurling pockets and follow the Dublin model in the urban centres.
or just call them 'Northern Ireland'. Never going to work, only interest parties are those outside of Team NI.
GAA need to invest in Belfast to start with. Rugby likely to be a big threat going forward if the names cropping up in the Schools cup teams are anything to go by. They did it for hurling in Dublin. That said the current Antrim County board would probably end up wasting the money.

Not all of Belfast is under the jurisdiction of the Antrim CB though!

I'm not sure there would be any appetite among the players or fans of the various Ulster counties to form an Ulster hurling side, other than for the Interpros.
Sort out the fixtures chaos in the various football dominated counties and you will be halfway to improving the hurling in the province.

There's more than one I'm afraid, apart from the Ulster council and the football dominated county boards, there's also Croke Park and how it treats second and third tear hurling counties....
