i think provincial clubs and all ireland clubs are scrap if that is the case i would suggest double the provincial club championships for next season for counties with different winners example if two different teams win tyrone championship then two teams from tyrone  enter ulster club championship. so in theory there could be an 18 team ulster club championship

You could maybe see a few clubs running tournaments over the winter like St Pauls do for ulster minor and Creggan for ulster U21

so interesting news from the county meeting Monday about how we are going forward now.

Senior championships will go ahead along with some league games. Fixtures will be released 2/3 days after the confirmation in July with 2 weeks allowed for training and then games to start.

Championship will only be within our own county and no ulster or All Ireland series.

U21 championship not for happening.

Antrim v Kerry game a priority as well as the Joe McDonagh cup games. will mean that league games will go ahead without county players for each club.

Underage games wont go ahead but Cul camps will in August if the clubs want to run it. If they dont its not a problem.

Still clarification required about attending games, social distancing measures, will they limit attendances at games, how this is to be done, will there be no one attending the games etc etc etc

Clubs will have to be responsible for ensuring the hygiene of the changing rooms, cleaning them done, sanitising procedures etc.

All interesting points and will no doubt cause debate.

good update DR, take it by senior it means adult as opposed to just the SHC and SFC? wonder what is meant by 'some league games, m they hoping to play a round of games or something similar? personally id rather they didnt play the leagues and just maybe ran the usual divisional preseason tournaments (O'Cahan Cup) etc as small groups to give teams a warm up for championship.

The lockdown is all but finished, was out running through Belfast last night, loads of groups of people gathered no social distancing etc, even on the ormeau embankment there were groups of young ones drinking, at the back of the concentrix building there was at least 15-20 with their music blasting and carry outs flowing. Heard of people having parties for birthdays etc too, fella said he was having his soms 18th out in the garden at the weekend I said Jesus the winds wild mightn't be great, ah sure we'll just move in after an hour or so anyway. I'm sure I'm not the only one come across this like

This 80% furlough is too generous. People don't want to go back to work. 50% would have been plenty.

Absolutely not. 50% would have seen far too many trying to work reducing the effectiveness of the measures and leading to a huge amount of job losses. The problem with it is the unfair way that it compares to the self employed scheme.

The problem with it is that makes a fool out of key workers.

Furloughed workers are told, stay at home, stay safe.
Key worker told to go to work, despite perceived / actual risk!

Furloughed worker earning up to £2,500
Key worker earning £10/hr

Furloughed worker has lower than usual expenses (not travelling to work)
Key worker has all usual expenses of getting to work

Key worker working in a hospital, care home, food factory will have family worried that they are going to get the virus and bring it into the house, while the rest of them are off work and still earning at no risk.

Lots of bullshit in the media about clapping for nurses and key workers, indulged and sponsored by government to distract people from the reality of the situation that government is treating key workers like shit!

agree with some of these points, mate of mine got Furloughed and at the time his company emailed all furloughed staff saying they'd make up the other 20% and all would receive full pay until they return to work. the company recently put safety measures in place for at least 3/4 of the workforce to come back, but nobody will go back because they have it in writing they're getting full pay sitting at home. can see why they're not going back but the goodwill the company showed them at the start paying them 100% is being thrown back in their face in my opinion, im sure this is going on all over the country.

this is what grinds my gears, lad at 35 not many years left and he cant even play club football because hes held to a higher set of rules than the other lads who are still able to play. With the Anti doping surely the ban should only apply to Inter County football/ Hurling? Gutted for the fella

Just a question, if a player is banned for 'Failing a drugs test' are they still able to play club football?

No. The Irish Sports Council will give a ban, which the GAA is to uphold on all competitions against the players registration.

It gets a bit murky if you then transfer abroad as an Irish Ban on an amateur game is hardly likely to be upheld, even though the player is for all intents and purposes banned from GAA games.

Just find it unfair that players are held to a different standard, for example a player who's on a county panel can get banned for taking a supplement yet his brother cousin who plays on the same club team and takes the same supplement isn't bound by the same testing rules, surely that cant be right. i understand that its probably to do with grants and that which are available to county players but it just doesn't sit right with me

I'm caught up in this too Pub Bore. On April 7th I got confirmation after applying for a refund (20 working days quoted). This morning that email with "my voucher". We were traveling to Romania for a karate competition my daughter was taking part in. Bad and all as Ryanair are, we're dealing with BlueAir for one of the legs. They're at the same lark....trying to push vouchers - no refund until 120 days after the end of the (ongoing) state of emergency in Romania.

I'm also due to go on holidays the end of May - from reading it looks like the family and I were going the same place as Screenexile. Resort are refunding less an admin fee but will have to go through all this with Ryanair again for those flights. Fun times.

im the same, had gotten an email last month and filled in the form for a refund, got an email this morning with my voucher, there was a link that if you wanted your refund instead, when i clicked it it basically brought me to their site with how to redeem your voucher, making it very difficult to get money back

Was due to fly with Ryanair on 22 Apr.  Got an email last week offering change of dates or a full refund.  I went for the latter, followed the link in the email and have applied for the refund.  Got an email a couple of days later to say that due to high demand it would take 10-12 days to process.

got the same, was due to fly to Italy end of the month, only got the email on friday which mentioned refund, maybe they are doing it a month before flights were due instead of all at once so that it gives the staff a chance to process the claims in some sort of order

So, do people think there will be club leagues run this year. Hard to know even when the isolation will end, plus the a second wave is possible as well. So it could be a very small window of possibly for any football this year at all.

Would doubt it, id say club championships will be run off, maybe to give extra games possibly do group stages instead of straight knock out, again all depends on how soon things start to go back to normal, the only thing being that between end of 'this season' and start of next doesn't really need to be long as most players will be looking to play as much football as possible after this down time so nothing to stop championships running into winter months this year

The more I think about it the better it sounds, just go for it straight knockout, as someone said every game finished on the day, even if we have to limit crowds to say 500 for early games make all games live on tv and free to air, every sat and Sunday games on back to back hurling/football be a great summers craic to lighten the mood

Every off license I've passed in Derry open. Florists, hair dressers etc. Absolute joke

Barbers and the likes are closed down our way.

Had to give the wee lad (aged 14) a bit of a buzz cut last night. He wanted a 1 at the sides and by god he got it. His ma wasn't best pleased but it'll grow back by the time he ever sees anyone outside these four walls.

More parents should do that, give them a hatchet job haircut and they won't want to go out, no arguments, ahead of the time! Lol

Poor performance from manager and players, it happens. We lick our wounds and go again still 2 trophies to go for, just disappointing knowing we got a draw that we could actually win for once and Copenhagen got a favourable draw in last 16 but hey the show goes on. Hopefully the players and Lenny learn from it and we can drive on to another treble, Sunday is a massive game, we seem to bounce back well after defeats this season so let's do it again

See the League games are now at 12 on Sunday, assume thats so they dont clash with the county game, only 2 div 2 games on and full card in div 3.
