It's great to see.
I think in Ireland, many people from non-hurling areas are slow to take up the game because it is sold as a game that only the elite few can be proficient at.
People then either feel they will never become good at the game and don't bother, or else are simply turned off by all the snobbish back slapping from hurling traditionalists.
The upshot of this is that many non-hurling people are almost proud of their disconnection from the sport. Many's the time I've heard football fans quip about hurling being a "foreign sport". Which is a terrible pity that this is the way the battle lines have developed.

The priority of the Milwaukee people seems to be that people enjoy the game and enjoy learning the skills. This should how hurling is spread in Ireland. Forget about trying to hotwire the All Ireland championship to get some sort of quick fix.
Getting the young people playing, practicing and enjoying the game will be how the sport survives.
Having the majority of people proficient in the game should be a bigger priority than trying to get 15 men in a county capable of taking on the big counties.

You've hit the nail on the head there. There's not going to be a quick fix to it. Re-designing the All-Ireland wont make a difference. The cream will always rise to the top. Promote the game more at under-age and in school. Improve coaching in these counties.

When I was in primary school we only played hurling for one year and the school gave up on it. It didnt even exist at secondary level. Even our local club refused to start hurling on the basis of a lack finances.

The Bruce Lee era was the golden age I reckon. But there are some classics even before his time. I remember seeing one, late one night it was just spectacular. All live action no CGI like Crouching Tiger. It was incredible. Didnt catch its name though.

Lads anyone hear anything about Anthony Moyles? It's rumoured his shoulder is destroyed.

Out for the Limerick game with a hairline fracture in his shoulder according to Hoganstand. They also reckon McAnerny wont be playing either. for fupp sake.

yeah problem there was the donegal man came on from the sideline after getting injured, not sure if that is legal but I thonik the linesman gave him the all clear and he went through the Fermanagh player. think he did more than damage his shoulder.

Just yesterday I got pulled up for a fair shoulder, like what was said earlier because I was carrying about 2 stone more than my opponent i knocked him clean off his feet. Ref gave a free in.

this would make you sick. What makes a kid do this to another. I would imagine they hear it from their parents. I actually was naive enough to believe before the immigration wave of the last decade, that Irish people wouldnt be inclined to be racist. How foolish.

only a small matter but would it be more accurate to say "Ulster Scot" culture rather than Unionist culture. As I would think that in the same sense there is no Republican culture, but there is Irish culture, not that the 2 are anyway inherently linked.

QuoteJust that cops in the US take more drastic and imediate action if you dont co-operate.

So failure to co-operate means you are shot, in this case 7 times.   And that's "just the way it is?"

That's the way it is in Iraq too it seems.

and thats why you co-operate. I dont think its right. And I dont advocate cops using lethal means to subdue suspects. Mr Hanlon should never have been killed. But in the US thats how things can happen. Im just stating that fact.

The reason I posted this article in the first place was to highlight what seemed to me as a major error on behalf of the police. I'll say no-more!

well not quite that simple. Just that cops in the US take more drastic and imediate action if you dont co-operate. How they deal with a deaf guy or a guy who doesnt speak english, I dont know. What I do know is that my 2 cousins are cops in NY and have both killed people while policing.
