Boyle blasts Devenney omission
29 May 2008

Donegal All-Ireland hero Manus Boyle has accused Brian McIver of showing a "lack of appreciation" to Brendan Devenney by omitting him from his squad for Sunday's Ulster SFC showdown with Derry.

Boyle, who scored 0-9 in Donegal's historic 1992 All-Ireland final victory over Dublin, has taken issue with the decision to drop the experienced St. Eunan's attacker.

He said: "I'm very disappointed for Brendan. Maybe this was his last year but I know he's trained hard since Christmas with injury, trying to get himself ready for the Derry game.

"To be told so close to the game shows lack of appreciation by management. It's not all down to McIver, he's taking on board what others are saying to him as well.

"The summer is not over if Derry beat us. Brendan is still going to be the best forward in the county and when you don't pick him it just doesn't sound good.

"I feel sorry for him because he's been such a good servant to Donegal over the years and to be treated in such a manner is not right."

Got the tickets. Which simply state 'Terrace'. Any of youse Daniel fans care to enlighten me as to were the 'Terrace' is?

In that case, I would think you can go anywhere except the stand, which means the Stranorlar side and behind the two goals.

The Life Aquatic is amazing!

One of the worst films I have ever seen.

Anchorman was utter gash as well!

Speaking of A Bronx Tale, has anyone heard what happened to yer man who played "C"?

He was stuck in prison awaiting charges of murdering a cop the last time I heard (himself and another boy were breaking into a house in the Bronx for drugs, when a off duty cop who lived on the street challenged them. The other boy pulled out a gun and killed him).

QuoteCarlito's Way

Scarface gets all the hype when it comes to De Palma/Pacino partnerships, but Carlito's Way is by far the superior film.

I would say Carlito's way is as good for sure.  What about 'A Bronx Tale'?

Sleepers and Unforgiven would be pretty highly rated.

Also, the original Manhunter is good as is the new version Red Dragon.

A Bronx Tale is class all right.

I had tickets to see Chazz Palminteri's one-man production of it on Broadway last year, but the bloody stage-hand strike caused it to be cancelled. >:(

I always think shawshank redemption was very under-rated, dont think it done much in the cinema or anything.

It was released to little hype in its initial theatre release, but it has been one the most highly rated films ever since then. It was nominated for best film in its Oscar year as well (although how Forrest Gump beat both it and Pulp Fiction will go down as one of the great mysteries of Oscar history for me!)

Ticketmaster have tickets for the the Eastern Terrace for Sunday's match in Ballybofey.

Does anybody know if the Eastern Terrace is opposite the stand, or is it behind one of the goals?

It has to be the one opposite the stand. The ground lies in a roughly north-south orientation, with the river goals at the north end and the town goals at the south end.

he has spent the last 40 odd years doing his best to help other people (as both sides of the US house would acknowledge)

Perhaps his fellow senators, who know him personally and have co-sponsored bills and worked on committees with him might have time for him, but the US right wing in general despises him, both for stuff like Chappaquidick and the general perception of above-the-law, reckless entitlement that many have of the Kennedys, and for the fact that he is a proud, unapologetic, formidable and very influential liberal.

Yeah, I would see that as a good thing (though Bush and McCain have paid tribute).  I hope he makes a recovery however it doesnt look very likely.  I've said on here before I am a massive fan of the three brothers.  Ted's private life may have been far from perfect (maybe a lot of it had to do with the relatives he buried) but he was an excellent senator and poltician and, like his brothers, he used his wealth and his power to fight for those that hadnt the means to do it themselves.
Hopefully it'll be of some comfort to the family to be able to spend some time with him rather than to have him snapped from them like the others.

Bobby was the best of them all, by a long way. The Kennedy's did want to help the underpriviliged and that will form part of their legacy but Teddy will be judged for the cowardice he displayed on the cape, and it should haunt him, he should have been charged for the crime of leaving the scene and allowing a young woman to drown.

He pled guilty to leaving the accident scene and got a two month suspended sentence.

They have a religious poll there - one of the choices is "dirty muslim"!

Filthy knuckle-dragging scumbags (the racists, not muslims).

I think the standard of grammar is quite telling.

Its absolutely brillent to see on the tv news that thousands of Gooks have recently perished in China and Burma. With some luck some more natural 'gifts' will occur soon and level out more of the muds.

I agree, god is on our side truley shows that we are the Master race, and i do believe more natural disasters will happen hopefully most if not all against the inferior races, our time is almost here my brothers

Hail Comrades.

It seems to me that the Gods are on our side. With the natural "disasters" that have happened over the last few years it makes me "think out of the box"

The boxing day tsunami.
New Orleans flood
Myanmar cyclone
china's e-quake

Sure I no that there were a few Whites caught up in the New Orleans floods but it is a predominately black area is it not.

Share your thoughts.

I think its great. If its doing anything, its dropping the slants population.

Talk about a bunch of half-wits!

Its hard to know. They've lost their first member this year, and they're all at least in their late 50s. The chances are Springsteen will return to the Seeger Sessions type of stuff next, or a solo project, or maybe both, before he thinks about another rock record. Clarence Clemons will be 70 in four years, which would be about the time the next E Street Band tour could be expected. The window of opportunity to see the E Street Band in all their glory is starting to close I would think.

A lot of these guys in the Senate and House and the White House would get on on a personal level, despite political differences, while you often hear stories of political allies despising each other personally! Apparently Al Gore and the Clintons would not be close, to put it mildly, and the same goes for McCain and Bush (although I couldn't blame McCain for that given what was done in Bush's name in the South Carolina primary in 2000). Sure weren't John Hume and Paisley fairly friendly as MEPs, despite all Paisley's ranting and obstruction over the years?
