Daughter was in her me of those summer camps last year.. it's Scary how quick flash floods cause so much damage and how ill prepared we really are to preventing then

We had one here in NYC in 2021. Think it was ten inches of rain in little over an hour. I've never seen anything like it. We had a whitewater river running down our steps into our basement, but got off lightly with the damage. About half a mile away, a Nepalese couple and their young child got trapped in their basement apartment and drowned, as it filled up so quickly they didn't have time to get out. The drainage system in the city simply wasn't built to cope with that quantity of water.

Yep, climate change is a Chinese plot to control the world.

Meanwhile, the queen of racist, arrogant, ignorance, Marjorie Taylor Greene, wants the Feds to follow in the footsteps of Florida and some other red states and pass legislation to "tackle" weather "engineering" and chemtrails.

Stories all over the internet sports news sites that Jota was killed in a car crash in Spain??

Tony Blake used to go down in the square with a contact lens problem when we needed a minute back in the late 90s and early 2000s (and we often did ;D).

Is that an option these days? :)

Young Thompson from Galway will make the YPOTY shortlist.

Whether he wins or not depends on how the likes of Roarty, Moore, McElholm and some of the younger Meath and Kerry players get on from here. How old are the Geaney brothers?

I don't get the dismissals of Meath here. Even if you grant that Dublin were poor and Kerry already through, does their display against Galway not buy them any credibility going into this match, especially having seen the number Monaghan did on Patton for the last 10 minutes of the first half?

Quote from: J70 on June 29, 2025, 09:32:37 PMAs always, the actual awards will depend on who makes the final and who wins and who stars.

But nominations should be starting to crystallize at this point.

From Donegal, I'd say cases for nominations at the moment could be made for Murphy, McCole, Patton, Shane O'Donnell, Langan and Roarty. Good semi and, if we make it, final appearances could push the likes of Gallen, Conor O'Donnell, Mogan, Thompson etc onto it.

Roarty could make the YPOTY list.

If we were to win out, and he continues to plays well, Murphy would probably be POTY.  🤯  ;D

I think Gallen has been miles off it this year.

He's been patchy, but All Stars have been won in semis and finals many times before.

Forgot about him. Galway and Armagh might be hard pressed to get any this year. Conaty was in pole position for one, and played really well today, but his teams collapse will likely put an end to his chances.

Is Roarty young enough for YPOTY?

You've forgotten Jim getting banned last year for playing him in the McKenna Cup two days short of his 18th birthday? ;D

Quote from: SouthDublinBro on June 29, 2025, 08:00:27 PMFor all of Jim's complaining, Donegal only having to beat Monaghan and Meath in the knockouts to reach an All Ireland final is extremely fortunate.

Louth, Monaghan and Meath. You forgot Louth

You forgot they had to beat Mayo virtually away also.

True, that will have been their last toughest game until they make the Final.

They also had to play Derry, Monaghan, Down and Armagh in Ulster.

Don't cloud the issue for them with facts!

FFS before today, Kerry had Cavan, Meath, Cork and Roscommon after a handy Munster.

Tyrone had us, Cavan and Mayo since losing to Armagh.

It is amusing how dismissive they are of Meath so they can get a dig in at Jim.

Quote from: SouthDublinBro on June 29, 2025, 05:39:21 PMDick Clerkin was right about this Armagh team.

What did he say about them?

Weakest team to ever win the AI.
Clerkin is a gobshite and is bit rich coming out with that from Monaghan.
A team can do no more than win the All Ireland in a given year.. Tyrone constantly had to listen to that begrudgery. . Puke football.. covid All Ireland..    :D
Did Clerkin actually say that? Before the Ulster final  he wrote 'as reigning All-Ireland champions, they demand respect' and thought they could beat Donegal. He also said that Armagh still have a lot to prove before being ranked as serious AI contenders this year.
Dick has being proved absolutely correct, Armagh like Monaghan went out without a whimper

He said that yesterday's game against Donegal was Monaghan's biggest in 20 years
Most probably he didn't say that either.

He did say it on the Indo podcast the other day.

Meath could beat Donegal, do not write them off.

Big time. I honestly don't know what to expect as we haven't really played this new Meath team. I do know to expect serious effort and energy and, in Morris and Costello, some serious forward play.

Plus, it was a quarter final. Weren't they in a semi two years ago??

That was a weird statement. Surely the 13 Ulster Final, which he played in, was their biggest? They hadn't won Ulster since the late 80s.
