I was in Berlin 2 weekends ago for the half marathon and stared on a few days. It's a fantastic city well worth visiting whether you're going on the beer or doing historical tours etc. It and Rome are probably the 2 most interesting cities I have visited.

Quote from: AustinPowers on April 15, 2025, 12:10:31 AMHas anyone been to  any of the islands  off the west  coast? .... the likes of Inishbofin, Clare island, Tory etc?

Stayed on   Inisheer and Inishmore a couple of times , and absolutely loved it there.

Fancied  sampling another one or two islands this year.

Any information welcome

Tory nice for a daytrip. Didn't stay over but I cant imagine there being much going on unless you wanted alot of quiet.

Yeah, accommodation on Tory does  seem limited. Hope to get there  sometime though. Day trip might  be enough to see  all there is to see

We do prefer the quiet  spots though , I have to say. Stayed a few  days  on both Inisheer and Inishmore in  recent years, and it was absolute heaven.

Clare/Inishturk/Bofin etc , I wouldn't mind experiencing. Same with the islands  off  Cork

If you're happy enough to bring a tent and go camping, it's a great way to experience the islands.

Can you just land out with a tent & pitch it anywhere? I'd say landowners on the island would be much the same as here and not appreciate that?
There are lots of accommodation options on the Donegal mainland though & just do a day trip to Tory?
I'd like to get to Tory this year, my mum has far out relatives there & I haven't been since I was a child

Good friends of ours have a house in on Inishbofin, which is now serviced by the Tory ferry during the tourist season. They hire it out in summer, although I don't see it on Air BnB atm
There's absolutely nothing to do there, but enjoy the scenery & peace;

There are legit campsites on the islands. Bofin has a hostel and campsite attached, Clare island and Inisturk have campsites also.

@WeeDonns - I was thinking of  Galway's  Inishbofin, not Donegal's. Should have  said.

Best spot for a long weekend in Donegal? Good food, creamy pints and walking distance to a beach.

Milltown Row2

Dunfanaghy also a decent spot with plenty pubs and food places, and decent beach. Downings good also but more limited
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.
