Leaving aside nepotism, presumably there are always teachers who have been doing hours in schools and these are always in pole position for a permanent job? Just as FermGael's mate would be in with a good chance in the school where he is temporary , the devil you know and all that.

Again not always the case, unless they are doing a decent job then they won't be given the job, performance and results (if you are on a temp contract) will give you the job  (via a interview) also some of the board sit on these interview panels. Nepotism though is still rife in all types of jobs in N.I .

Would good GAA connections still get you in teaching jobs down south?

Hopefully John Joe recovers quickly. Really classy boxer who has plenty of potential to become a world class boxer at the professional level. Would be better off if he moved permanently away from Ireland so he can rid himself of people like those who did this to him.

Always came across as a decent lad in interviews, you'd think fellow Travellers would have some sense with regards someone who has represented his community and his country so well, but it seems like these petty, childish feuds are the only thing that elicits passion from a significant minority of the population.

This is very much an Irish thing though. Some of us hate to see a fella lose the run of himself by being successful and the like.

Why is that? We really do love to slag off anyone successful. Rory McIlroy is one of the biggest names in world sport but 90% of sports fans in ireland think he's a ****! Americans seem to be the opposite and love their sports stars.

This attitude really does my head in - why is it that anyone who doesn't like McIlroy is labelled as either a sectarian bigot or as being jealous of his success?

I don't mind people not liking him, that's their prerogative but there's a lot of people who don't like him for those reasons you stated and when pressed on the issue find it very hard to produce a different reason for not particularly liking him!

Correct Screen, some people actually hate the fact that they are closet bigots ;) To hate someone for some of the reasons spouted on here are daft (IMO), have some balls and give your real reasons ffs (not you screen ;) )

You reckon this may have been down to a lack of collective training in the last few weeks?

I haven't a clue what's going on behind the scenes there Johnney to be honest, but they did look tired in the second half and the workrate dropped. I hadn't heard about their lack of training session until I read deiseach's article.

When you come out of the blocks like Waterford did there will always be a chance of fatigue setting in, and with them being understrength (not that it noticed in the first half) then the problem of do I put on 4/5 subs that will help keep the momentum or would it have brought the standard down? Hard to work out what's the best thing to do as a manager

A picture tells a thousand words:

If you'd like a couple of thousand words about the game, click here.

Reminded me of Ryan Giggs going past the Arsenal defence in the FA Cup ;)

Was a cracking score and the best you'll see this year I'd imagine

How long do we reckon from Belfast to Portlaois?

I suspect the footballers are not going to get much support this year!

SIE fair play to you for going to all these games.

I'd say 2.30 hrs tommy, we are the first game at 2 so given time for additional traffic should leave around 11, couple pints job done

A few things of note, both Brick Walsh and Kevin Moran in the act of retaining possession throw/drop the ball onto the ground and scoop it back into their hands, a fine line IMO, but they got away with it yesterday, any referees clarify on this?

I have seen this more and more, if they throw the ball as if to put it on the stick then miss, is that clumsy or deliberate? It's a fine line, if they consistently do it in a game I'll blow for throw ball and let him know what I think he's doing. This is being taught or they are copying this from games on TV.

The odd time I'd listen to a bit of music or a podcast but its hard to beat a bit of company on a run, even if just for the first few miles.

Last weekend did a 12miler with 4 others, 2 of the lads where for pushing the pace but myself and another lad said we'd ease off. We chatted the whole way round and the run flew by. On a lovely fresh Sunday morning it was mighty.

Know what you mean. Saturday was the farthest and by far the longesttime i've ran for but I did it at a handy pace and found I was sound after and the time flew.

I listen to the radio but depending on my pace the left earpiece falls out and puts me off ffs

Weather is perfect for a run now, might do my wee loop run (6 miles) but I'm spinning later and have planned to do my 13.1 miles tomorrow after work, don't want to do too much.

If you want to be on the bus, call into the club during the week and buy a ticket.
I'll hopefully have more info tomorrow night.

I might do that.

Lowry gonna need to birdie this 17th.
Hopefully McIlroy drops one on 18th.

He didn't, no luck today with Antrim giving you boys a wee lesson also ;D

You'll give Galway a good show I'm sure :P

Thought lowry was offaly rather than Laois?

I wasn't talking about counties, just that Laoislad (who lives in Dublin :o) was hoping for a result of sorts and I was looking a different result ;)

HS will be running a bus down for this, outside Casement SC for 10am
Maybe. I'm supposed to be in Donegal but if the interest is there, I have no issue getting a bus and selling the tickets.
Yes, I'm hearing that there will be a bus from Casement SC to Wexford game.

Carry out included?

Any of him throwing the tri colour to the ground that time ?

Disappointing to see that Ireland's Shane Lowry missed out today. Harry Bradshaw in 1958 still the last Irish winner of this tournament. The famine goes on.

Yeah, sure.
