The successful counties promote from within and would never even consider bringing in an outsider

Secondly their managers don't get parachuted into the big job

They have a body of coaching work often done from u14 upwards and it's a progression,be successful at 14,get moved up to 15 and so on.

There's a mentors pathway in place in these counties with ex players heavily involved.

I know of a man who was asked to take a u14 divisional team here,in the past month

He went away and came back with a proposal

They were going to train as a club team twice a week, central to the clubs location so they wouldn't be trucking in and out from the CoE

Had a 6 man back room team assembled to include 3 coaches,an athletic development person a physio and a stats video person

He was in the process of getting gear for them as he has access to funds and was looking to feed them afterwards so that they could get home to study etc after training.

Everything he suggested was shot down

One by one

He didn't have a son on this particular team,he was doing it to improve standards as that's his approach in his professional life.

I see she's quoting Andrew Devine who's now a commentator also

Andrew also goes by the name Andrew Rhatigan and Andrew Devine Rhatigan and seems to have a multiple number of addresses in the Republic when he clogs up the letters to the Editor section in the Sunday Times telling us how lucky we were to had to have the Black and Tans protecting us and why we should be grateful if we decided to re-unite with the UK.

Tipperary Coiste Na nOg have been asked to organize this event with guidance from the National Feile committee based in Croke Park. Teams from Dublin( St Vincent's), Kilkenny (James Stephens), Wexford ( Glynn Barntown), Waterford (Ballygunner), Limerick ( Monaleen), Clare ( Clonlara), Cork (Middleton),  Galway (Clarinbridge) and Tipperary ( Durlas Og, JK Brackens, Arravale Rvs and Ballina) will play in Division 1
In Division 2 we have Antrim (Oisins), Derry (Erin's Own ), Down (Bredagh), Offaly (Drumcullen), Laois (The Harps), Kildare (Naas), Westmeath (TBC) and Tipperary ( Roscrea, Borrisaleigh, Cashel,  St Mary's and  Mullinahone).

Laois county board out shopping for a new studier book shelf to put this on.

To go with the 2 recent strategic reports plus the famed but seldom seen Cheddar Hurling Development report.

Pardon the cynicism but when you seen some of the easy wins which were cost neutral in the other reports gathering dust.

I wouldn't be too hopeful of this going anywhere fast either.

Waiting List Figures as at 31/12/20.

I know it's 10 months out of date, but the figures won't have improved,if anything they will have gotten a lot worse

NI NHS
Waiting for OP appointment  300,000
Waiting for operation/procedure 100,000

HSE
Waiting for OP appointment 613,000

Waiting for procedure 63,000

So with 36% of the population of the Republic

Pro Rata and using the "shitshow" of the HSE as the benchmark for the waiting list metrics

The NI NHS should have 220,000 on waiting lists appointments ,instead it has 80,00 more at 300,000

And it should have 36,000 waiting on procedures instead it has nearly double that at 63,000

Camross should and will be delighted with the win.

11/12 of their starters underage again next year with one u14 playing this year.

Knew their limitations and played to them, it worked out  for them.

Abbeyleix for one reason or another didn't perform on the night

Sounds like you know more than the rest of us. We're only looking for transparency here. These teams play tomorrow after all. The dithering will surely allow any guilty parties to play, which shouldn't happen. Or maybe that's the plan. Who knows. We have an anaemic local media so somebody has to question what the f**k is going on here. Might as well be us as anyone, but I welcome your contribution and am happy to debate the point. The whole thing stinks. Standard fare for this county unfortunately

And for what it's worth, I will never be reasonable where I perceive an injustice, an inconsistency or blatant disregard for fair play. I may be wrong but will happily admit to be if good evidence disproves my point. We haven't seen any evidence yet, but in previous similar situations, we knew everything. Remember too that a lot of us were there and know what we saw. No need to mention names

Bit unfair to have a pop at the media when Laois Today have been barred for no apparent reason from CB meetings

Thanks clonadmad.
I did check the leinster one but found only old fixtures.

Leinster matches are special for the teams who get there.

nothing for leinster as of yet on their website

There is a rumour that it is only for Senior clubs this year.
Think thay would be very hard on our Premier Intermediate sides. Any of Ballyfin, Ballinakill or Portlaoise could do well.

Dates are up and Draws are made in Munster for both codes at senior intermediate and junior club anyways.

It'll surely become a series of one-day regional competitions? Maybe the winners come together; maybe not.
The days of young lads staying in random people's homes will ahrdly return.

It's a pity in a way but we live in a different world now.

The gutting of the feile competition was in place before covid struck.

so much for juvenile welfare as well with u15's being expected to play 5 games in 2 days.

They could have easily spread the games out over a month and played full 25 min a side games.

You had a situation last weekend where there were teams playing in hurling county final's on the saturday and then expected to play feile on the sunday and monday.

I know of a situation in one county where half the football teams and a third of the hurling teams didnt even bother entering it.

They had championship ongoing and the teams mainly rural were unwilling to take the risk of losing players to injury in the feile.

There's hardly a provincial club championship this year, is there?

Provincial Championship first round on the master plan due to start for senior hurling 27/28 November

Provincial finals 7/8 January

All Ireland Final Feb

When covid eventually disappears

All club games will be finished in the calendar year.

Some great football in the U15 Feile football this weekend.

St Joseph's won the A with a seriously impressive team. Ballyfin won the B with a few good footballers from mountrath forming a Gaels.

That Joe's team would have given a National Feile a right go.

Josephs u15s even more impressive this year than last year.

I cant see the feile competition being of much relevance any more unfortunately given the way its been completely neutered at national level.

St. Paul's won't last, sadly.
Almost definitely not. Best players will be snapped up by other stronger hurling clubs. Slieve Margy got f***ed over by county board and other clubs and same will happen.

Football followed by the lack of support from the county board is what killed Margy.

There was literally 4 hurling men keeping it going for the last 2/3 years and when 2 of their sons went up to hurl Senior with ballinakill.

The game was up.

Actually, there's only 6 in the U15'B', but you're right - this is an excellent way of sorting the men from the boys (!), shall we say! Credit to the juvenile board! Mountrath, for example used to hide in the 'B' championships and pick up handy titles, when this new system shows they're well able for the 'A' standard: this year they got to the u15 'A' final, albeit well beaten by The Harps.

On another note, the Feile hurling finals are on tonight. This year it's u15, and the 'A' semi-finals are Rathdowney/ Errill v Raheen Parish Gaels, and Park-Ratheniska/ Timahoe v The Harps.  I expect an RPG v Harps final.

u13

8 Teams went to A and 8 went to the B after the Preliminary group stages

Your Right  6 to the A at u15 and 8 to the B after the Preliminarys also

Not often I praise the County board but they got this spot on.

Agree with you completely in relation to Mountrath

been lurking around winning B cups, did a clean sweep of them in 2020

now they have been forced by winning games to get out of the B and Lo and Behold they find themselves in an A u15 final and an U13 A semi final beaten both times by the Harps

Ditto PRT,beaten in the U13A final and u15A semifinal both times by the Harps as well

This can only be good for hurling in the county with the player base being widened into the bargain.

Delighted also to see Port making the breakthrough at u15B hopefully they will now start entering a minor team.A couple of excellent hurling men driving the whole show over there.

Hopefully Paul's won't go the way of Margy

Sounds like big numbers from the football/duel clubs at the U14 hurling with laois.
Think Port and emo had nearly a team between them.
Ballyfin had at least 5 and I think mountmellick had a few as well.

Pity laois today or the papers don't cover these matches. The lads would lvoe to see their names mentioned.

2 nice games in Heywood last night,a few good young lads on display

going by the team sheets, the following clubs were represented

Laois West

Castletown 6
R/E 8
B/K 6

Laois East
