Heading over for the Sligo match in May and in need of a stern on decent bars where we'll not get the heads annoyed off us by bad drink, loud and shite music etc. This is kind of a reunion for the trip we made 20 years ago and in the interim our knowledge of the London scene has evaporated. It appears places we used to go to like the Claddagh Ring have gone a bit posh in that time so might not be suitable. Ideal spot would be somewhere Irish old timers would drink. Don't mind the appearance so long as the drink is good and we'll be able to talk a bit of shite and have the craic. Crucially this is for the night of the game (Sunday) and we don't want to be chucked out at 10.30.....need a good late spot. Location not really a concern....we'll travel for the right spot.

gallsman

Plenty of Irish still in the Swan in Stockton...

You're clearly looking forward to getting away from it all and sampling some local culture then.
Careful now

StGallsGAA

The Pleasant Pheasant in South Norwood

Orchard park

is the lucky 7 in cricklewood still going........... McGoverns in Cricklewood used be a decent house.

is Finbarr Holian still running the show in the Claddagh ring.

god be with the mondays and Ambrose Gordon from the spotted dog having copies of the sunday game all over north london. Christ Mondays were better days on the beer than sundays then

bamboo

Swan in Stockwell is closed on Sunday. Hop Pole in wandsworth will cover all your needs.

He could be back in Sligo quicker than getting there from Ruislip.

Not the type of trip for that. London is great but on this trip it's about old times and old friends. Sorry to disappoint you.

Knew the Swan wasn't open Sunday. Thanks for the advice.

Ah the memories. Manys a good night in the Swan. And they used to do an end of the night chip as well-without even needing to go outside to a chip van. Wonder is it still as good. Enjoy the reunion MS.

Good drink (esp Guinness ) plenty of shite being talked already, and late bar. Might be a few too many Mayomen in them though
