Very impressive result for Joseph's Barrowhouse. Themselves and Port must be favourites. Portlaoise gone already, must be one of their earliest exits ever from the minor football?

Just wondering are there two Portlaoise teams in the minor this year. The results section on Laois GAA website has them down as Portlaoise B...?

That's what they want you to think! :paranoid:

I heard one person's opinion to that effect anyway....you see Portlaoise B and think, well, their A team is probably winning.

This Portlaoise B thing has been on the website for about 3/4 years now.

Think it's joes v Graigue this Friday night in the semi. Port must be in the other semi against who I don't know?

Graiguecullen:                      1-10
St Joseph's-Barrowhouse:   0-08

Stradbally Parish Gaels:       1-05
Portarlington:                        3-17

Good sporting game played in front of a good sized crowd. Graiguecullen led throughout without reaching the heights that they showed in the previous round.
Joe's/Barrowhouse were well in it and although they never led there was only a point or two between them for most of the game.
With about ten minutes to go Joe's/Barrowhouse drove a great goal chance over the crossbar and within five minutes Graiguecullen went down the field and an attempt for a point hit the upright and was finished to the net by a Graiguecullen forward.
A few of the Joe's/Barrowhouse lads took the beating bad after the full time whistle and went looking for trouble but thanks to no retaliation from the Graiguecullen lads and the help of the stewards they finally left the field with handshakes all round. It was a pity to see that as it had been a very sporting game and there really was no need for it.

The Minor A final takes place tonight between Portarlington and Graiguecullen in O'Moore Park at 7-30pm.
Some great football played by both these teams on their way to the final and it's hard to pick a winner tonight.
Best of luck to both teams.

Horrible conditions for football. Nevertheless it was entertaining enough. Graigue always looked in control and I think in truth the weather suited them better. Port are physically a small team and struggled with some handling errors. The point shooting from the Graigue forwards was top notch on the night.

Well done graiguecullen, great football from both teams in bad weather conditions.
Graiguecullen were losing by 3 points to 0 after five mins but then took control and led 7 to 5 at half time .

They went 5 points up early in the second half and stayed four or five ahead for most of the half. Port made great efforts to get back into the game but the graiguecullen defence was top class.

Then Luke Hand finished a great move to the net with a piledriver and they held out till the end.  The final score was 1-13 to 0-10 in a fantastic final.

Good game - well done to Graigue. I would've tipped Port to win it after they'd won the league but fair play to the winners.
That club really, really needs a senior breaktrhrough. If they could win one, I think they could win another few.
