Mayo kicking it away. Their shooting against Donegal was not a one-off.

Add this result to the fact that, but for refereeing errors, you wouldn't have any wins under your belt, things are not looking good for Brend-tan!!

Stoke win was fair and square.

But your overall point stands: Arsenal game aside,  Liverpool have been poor to average.

Lovren can consider himself very lucky if he starts against United, but he is only the most glaring example.

General discussion / Re: America`s Gun Culture

The gun nuts are happy to live with these mass murders and the everyday background rate of murder as collateral damage of their right to own military - grade assault weapons to "protect" themselves against others with the same access. The rest just don't have the same motivation and basically gave up when Sandy Hook wouldn't even budge the nuts an inch. The lunatics won, and any of us who live in the states could be the victim of some deranged moron who had no problem buying a gun.

That is horrible.... just absolutely horrible!!!

Have we had the "They should have been armed and they'd still be alive" nonsense appear yet? It just baffles me!!

It won't be long.

America is a sick society in so many ways.

Moreno could have set up the winner at the end there. Not the brightest player.

Good point though. Better team in first half, should have led, and then stood up to serious Arsenal pressure in the second.

Gomez looks a serious player for such a young kid

All over em and can't score.
Will probably be beaten 1-0 now.

Always the way!

RIP to all these young lads.

I think back on the dumb mistakes I made as a young driver and how I got away with them (still make one on occasion). I was lucky.

Intelligent lad, Dick. Good article.

Although it would be interesting to see the stats on the effects, if any, of the black card's introduction.

Did not see either game so far except for highlights,  but indications are that they have not been too hot. Could be in for a rude awakening next Monday.

Joe Gomez was excellent tonight. Milner, Lallana and Benteke also impressed me
I thought Clyne & Gomez where both very good,as was Benteke.
Liverpool didn't play particularly well and Bournemouth gave a good account of themselves, but they didn't really create many good chances at the same time.
I actually thought the disallowed goal was a foul, he climbed on Lovren, although as Carragher said, you need your CB to be stronger  and tighter marking not to allow a run on you like that.
As for the Benteke goal, given the new offside rule, Coutinho was offside (although I don't think it made a whole lot of difference, the keeper wasn't saving that from Benteke anyway)

Agree about Bournemouth goal - the lad himself said he was climbing on Lovren.  However,  it's mostly let go at that level.

As for Liverpool goal, I can't believe that last season it would have been legitimate.  Coutinho was clearly active and put the keeper off. I must be seriously out of touch if that was anything BUT offside in ANY season.

How are there only 40-odd deaths with that level of devastation over a huge area in a densely populated city?

Anyone been or lived in Seattle/Washington and or Oregon (Portland) areas? Been offered a job out there in construction estimating.. Because its more northerly up the Pacific Coast ( I realise it's not far off Vancouver) what the lifestyle etc and culture is like compared with SF, SD, LA areas down the coast.

I'd live in Portland in a heartbeat. Fantastic town, very progressive and laid back. Amazing public transport system, beautiful scenery (Cascades and Pacific Coast) less than an hour away. Only place I've ever seen where they don't have bins on the streets, but solar-powered mini rubbish compactors!

There were a lot of homeless there, although they weren't the usual, middle-aged mentally ill, addict types. More like young hippy types. Not sure if they're a year round phenomenon.
I'm down twice a week in Portland for work - the city where young people go to retire they call it. It's a fun place, very progressive if thats your thing.... ;)
The homless are getting a little aggressive from what i hear from the locals. Sad to see a lot of young ones have run away from home and ended up there. A lot of the city parks and bridges would be full of them in the evening times. Outside the town in the lives of beaverton or hillsboro theres really none at all

Is it a Seattle thing too? Or is Portland just a unusually generous place for homeless? Has to be some reason so many of them end up there.

As for Trump, Michelle Bachmann, one of the dumbest planks ever to serve in congress, was riding high in the Republican nomination polls this time four years ago. Rick Perry, Herman Cain and Newt Gingrich also all enjoyed a month of favour until the inevitable happened and Romney pulled away.
