Paul Galvin was sent off today "in contreversial circumstances" - he was getting a yellow card for a foul and was enraged he slapped the book out of referee Paddy Russell's hands and was then given a straight red. Is this something that you would like to do ?  ;D ;D

Have we reached a new low ?? I hope the fact that he was a referee is not connected to this crime.

Gardaí to interview Waterford shooting victim
Monday, 28 April 2008 08:42
Gardaí at Dungarvan in Co Waterford are hoping to speak later today to the man who was shot and seriously injured while walking at Coolbeggan near the village of Tallow.

They have also appealed to people who were in the area between 11.30am yesterday morning and 1.30pm yesterday afternoon to contact them.

The man is in a stable condition in hospital after undergoing surgery.

AdvertisementThe injured man in his 50s has been named locally as John Michael Kelly, a member of the Shamrocks GAA club at nearby Knockanore and a well-known referee throughout Waterford.

Mr Kelly left his home at around midday yesterday and set off on the quiet and secluded woodland walkway at Coolbeggan.

Just over an hour later, he emerged onto the roadway having been shot in the stomach. He flagged down a motorist who raised the alarm.

Mr Kelly was rushed to Cork University Hospital where he underwent surgery.

Gardaí are now trying to establish a motive for the shooting and are appealing to people who were in the area to contact them.

They say they are particularly anxious to trace the driver of a blue jeep which is believed to have been in the woodland at the time of the shooting.

Waterford County Board have brought in the Garda after € 142,000 literally disappeared from their accounts. This was money in respect of All Ireland hurling tickets for last years championship.

That's some hole in your finances.

What's the score with this match ? Will MH throw caution to the wind ? Will he try a new forward line ? Will Brian Mc Guigan get more game time ?

Donal Mc Anallen has resigned his post as Secretary of Higher Education committee - another high profile resignation. Donal would be a true gael and is disenchanted over the obvious change in direction of the GAA - Will the GAA react to stop this or do they think they can do without vlounteers like Conway and Mc Anallen ?

What a man James Mc Garry is !!! Apparently the KK management wanted him to go on for the last few minutes but he declined saying that he didn't want to spoil the last few minutes for PJ Ryan. A very generous gesture on behalf of the management and indeed Mc Garry.

September 03, 2007, 11:50:40 AM
Henry Shefflin - any news on the extent of his injury ? Is it cruciate or what is it - I really hope it's not cruciate - he's a legend and we all want to see him back fully fit soon.
