Am old enough to remember! Neeskens was a great player... part of Holland team attributed with creating 'total football'... apparently thats: "a tactical system in which any outfield player can take over the role of any other player" ...
Whatever it was, they were brilliant: shuda won '74 World Cup..

George Baldock formerly of Sheffield United.

Capt Pat

Apparently Baldock was found in his swimming pool. I wonder what happened there.

Died after delivering a speech in North Macedonia. Possibly the way he would like it.
He definitely moved Scotland on, not much since him.
MAGA Make Armagh Great Again

He moved nationalism on for a bit for sure. Whether he moved the country in is a different question altogether.

I'll never forget his interview on the Late Late Show during the Pat Kenny era.

Kenny never saw fit to ask him even a single question about Bloody Sunday despite him being second in command in Derry on the day and despite him having drafted the infamous "shot list" which he presented to the worlds media in attempt to portray the innocent victims as gunmen and bombers.

Nor did Pat ask him a single question about Ballymurphy Massacre during which he was also present as second-in-command as 11 innocent civilians were murdered by his Parachute Regiment, with the victims then also subjected to false accusations and smears, with similar attempts made to label them as gunmen and bombers, with Jackson even still referring to them as "republican gunmen" in his autobiography.

He was instead lauded by Pat/RTÉ as some sort of celebrated British war hero with Kenny talking to him about "theatres of war" he experienced and about his "guys on the ground". Perhaps even more stomach churningly, the audience applauded him enthusiastically.

Every time you thought you understood just how little people in the south actually knew about the conflict in the north, you would see something like the audience reaction to Mike Jackson that night, that would really make your jaw just drop to the floor in disbelief.

(In contrast to Jackson's interview, Michelle O'Neill was still quizzed about the IRA on her most recent appearance on the Late Late a few months back).
