GAA Discussion / Re: Joe Brolly
IMO, Joe gains a fair bit of absolution for winding up the racists into knots, also McGregor and his ilk.
Even going back 10 years!! :)

Hard to find some group who have not been wound up by Joe.

This Fig Roll ad was surreal even by Monty Python standards of surrealism

They have european football after christmas. More than we can say
They will have at the third level, I wouldn't call that riding high, on fire, they failed to beat a Cypriot team at home which meant they got relegated. But it has to be said, for all their efforts they do earn a few coefficient points for the league which mainly benefit Celtic.

All 3 were very good goals, Forrest's control and shot was sublime.

yeah, that was poor from Brolly
I listened to that podcast and didn't get that meaning at all. Imo Joe was saying something else altogether. Racists take a few words out of context in order to throw muck at Joe. Racists are dumb as fck anyway.

Crumlin road incident of hate.
Woman to be sentenced for 'obscene' racially-motivated attack on pizza delivery driver
The court heard that the victim was born in Ireland and had lived all his life in Dublin

At a hearing in Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on Thursday, the court heard that Johnston called the man "a bloody foreigner" and a "little Paki" before pushing, punching and kicking him in an unprovoked attack.

Prosecuting Garda Evan Owens said at one point Johnston started biting the man's leg and that after getting into her car, she drove towards him in a threatening manner and threatened to kill him.

In a victim impact statement, the injured man said Johnston had attacked him "like a vicious animal" and that he continues to suffer physical pain, anxiety and depression because of the assault.

"To be racially abused in your own country while providing services is extremely hurtful; it will stay with me my whole life. I felt degraded and insignificant,"

The defense ;D
At a hearing on Thursday, Seoirse Ó Dúnlaing BL, defending Johnston, said there was simply no justification for what he described as a "mindless, senseless attack on a person going about his business, working and contributing to the State".

Mr Ó Dúnlaing described the racist utterances made by his client as "foul, obscene, nothing short of absolutely shocking' and 'disgusting, quite frankly".

That's the one, the add for the ages.
There was another boat add, from Murphy's stout, rowing a barrel on a boat up the Liffey into the heart of Dublin. Taking it to the enemy!!

Well played Steph the ref at B Munchen v FCK, amidst histrionics from BM players, what a bunch of whining wankérs considering they're claiming elite club status not just with decision but such histrionics over two blatantly false claims for a penalty.

Quote from: illdecide on November 28, 2023, 04:32:18 PMLazio are not great but us away from home in CL and quite a few suspensions/injuries for tonight limits our chances further. I think BR will be forced to change formation tonight and he may well start OHH and Kyogo up front plus he has to go for it too. I'll not be holding my breath waiting on a big result that's for sure but i sure hope they prove me wrong. Nothing only 3pts tonight and we're outta Europe so they have to go for broke
They did okay this evening but a good Celtic team would be taking 4- 6 points  from that Lazio team. I thought it wasn't a (consolation) penalty, Oh milked the contact but it was more of a penalty than what Rangers got at Aberdeen. Scales reverted to his mistake proneness, clearing the ball away direct to Lazio feet on more than few occasions. That's the bit of his game that needs an exorcism, otherwise a fine footballer

Plenty of legitimate ways for citizens to express their views, but not by haranguing their politician walking to their car.

Well if she is refusing to address their concerns, she only has herself to blame if  they harangue her
Concerns of whoever?  racists dullards? Mary Lou does have to answer to blow-in dumb as fck racists.

That constituency elected a Sinn Fein TD, a PBP TD and a Green Party TD at the last election

Now all of a sudden her constituents are right wing racists because they don't want  open borders

Ive heard it all now
Her racist constituents? Where did you get that info from? in all likelihood they are blow-in racists.

is that the purpose of this board to enrich and improve people lives?

I read the board for years, basically it a source of info. you might not otherwise find else or opinions of others you might not find elsewhere.

It's always been for some a soapbox, help with problems, a source of information, a bitta craic, insightful, the odd friendship, inside info on all things GAA, and of course the bitter battles on all thing's political.

You won't say certain things here to someone's face or have that conversation with a work colleague, so it escalates.. a time out now and then can help

There are lads on here I'd say from before they were married to being in the house on their own while their kids have flown the nest.
Most probably the kids along with the mother :D

I think she was just caught off balance, it was more of a push than a jab, still it's a knockdown. Hard to credit in a fight where boxers are battering each other to bits, that such a harmless knockdown would cost you the round by 2 points. It looked so accidental and with Katie popping back up instantly, could it be that the ref just didn't deem it worthy of a knockdown and subsequent points penalty?

There's no such thing as earning a soft free against a Tyrone team.
Well done to the Scotstown lads, real grit in extra time.

I guess Brennan was told there would be another 2 minutes or so on top, that's why he took the point.
