Moderator why do you delete my comment saying that the ship was built by Ulster loyalists when this is fact? Maybe you haven't researched the ships history moderator? Anyway you won't see me posting on this forum again after that style of underhand moderation.

I hope Antrim football fans sat navs are working well, I bet many wouldn't know the way to Croke Park.

Only 4 games to win, football is coming home ;) ;D

His optimism is a joy to behold.  ;D

That YouTuber seems to be some sort of Irish Unionist as he often changes his username to things like BritishIslesUnited and he always uploads videos whenever republicans misbehave. Unless he does this to try to troll nationalists which is common among southerners.

Higgins selected is a strange one for Armagh not much football all year, presume he is in to match up Comer physically.  McCambridge omitted again held Walsh scoreless from play in the league game would have expected him to start ahead of Paddy Burns. No real complaints from midfield up Comiskey has been a good impact player.  Armagh will need big games from the full forward line I feel and Grugan to play well.
The names in Irish are interesting. Coilleach Eanach is hard to link to Cullyhanna, which is nonsense
Droimeann Ti is easy
Cill Sleibhe is interesting . Did they drop the s to get Killeavy?

I like looking for clan family names in the wrong county. For example, a Magennis playing for Armagh, while an O'Hanlon played for Down.

It isn't always clear cut as major clans spread across several counties. Take Tyrone for example, the origin of the UI Neill came from Inishowen modern Donegal but Tyrone love playing up the O'Neill and UI Neill history thing. I know that the medieval O'Neill were centred in Cookstown and Dungannon but the UI Neill goes back long before that. In fact my own county of Derry was part of the original Cenel Eoghain. People in the GAA like to over simplify Irish history.

Both Ireland's losing is always pleasing to see but that is just my opinion.

It just gets boring from here on in when your club have won everything, it is called the hedonistic treadmill. Those older fans will secretly be wishing they were a struggling mid table team again or even a team in the 2nd Division as that is where the excitement is at. Dublin Gaelic football fans would have felt the same after 6 in a row.

There are 3 of the Cork team dead now who started the 1993 final

Attendances have been shocking across the board of the warmest week of the year.

The heat can turn people off going to games too, sitting in a hot car for 90 minutes.

O'Se on co-commentary was a dose. Why can't someone other than a Kerry man be assigned to these games?

All those co commentators are hard to listen to. Michael Murphy with his Donegal accent, Philly McMahon with his strong north Dublin accent or Enda McGinley saying "eh, eh" before every sentence. Then there used to be Marty Clarke who for some reason had an Antrim accent even though he was from South Down.

GAA Discussion / The future of Croke Park
June 02, 2023, 05:29:08 PM
I am reading a book about Croke Park and I see that this year's All Ireland final will be the 30th final in front of the new Cusack stand. It is over 29 years old now, the old Hogan stand was 42 when it was demolished.

I wonder what Croke Park will look like in 50 or 100 years? Will it be the same as it is now? Surely modern stadiums are built to last many decades.

Never want hear Armagh complain about tickets again!

I noticed that the RTE studio area took up a fair few seats in the corner of the stand. I don't know why they couldn't have recorded on the sideline to free up those seats.

I usually would have supported Armagh in this game but after the Ulster final I am a neutral.

General discussion / Re: 20 years of the PSNI

I've never had any dealings with the police before. I was in a Protestant graveyard a couple of years ago and noticed that a gravestone had a PSNI logo embedded on it. Myself and my parents were looking for the grave of United Irishman Roddy McCorley but it turned out he was buried in an unmarked grave maybe because they didn't want Protestants doing something to the grave.

Martin O'Neill still talks about the penalty he missed for the minors in the 1970 All Ireland semi final.

I find it hard to get interested in minor football especially now that they are only 16 and 17. I think the very small attendance shows that some people feel the same.
