Better than being serial losers 

Is it a classic example of the GAA acknowledging that gaa managers aren't in it for just the love of the game without actually coming out and saying that?
I'm trying to think of players who have been banned for any convictions? Are the gaa, off the record, treating managers to a higher level of scrutiny than players because they are making money on their involvement with the gaa.
Whole lot of worms spilling over the place. That said, the GAA would have faced a backlash if they had done nothing as well. Sometimes there's no way to win.

I'd say you've hit the nail on the head there. I know of plenty of ex prisoners that played club football in derry, not a thing said about their past convictions.

If all the Glen players and the injured trio of Eoin McEvoy,Odhran Lynch and Gareth McKinless were unavailable for the Monaghan game, it would create an interesting selection dilemma for team management but a welcome opportunity for others to get welcome game time. In that unlikely scenario the following would probably be the selected team.

Its a pretty specific stat regarding beating the top 3 teams in Croke Park in a set time period. How many games does that actually involve?  I'd say Donegal beat Tyrone more times over that time frame that any of Kerry, Dublin, Mayo.

In the super 8 they beat Roscommon and donegal. Dublin beat Tyrone again. Tyrone played monaghan in the semi and beat them.

No matter which way you look at Saturday night's game against Kerry one must commend Derry for both the quality and intensity of their play. Unlike many Derry teams of the past they also have the resilience and determination to come back immediately after conceding a score and score themselves.

 Now that they have set high standards for themselves I feel that they lack a consistent long distance free taker. Presumably management is aware of this and it is difficult to see any of the current starters successfully taking over this role. Over the past few years Niall Loughlin,Conor Doherty and now Conor Glass have been tried in this role with varying degrees of success.Perhaps posters have some ideas on how this area of the team's development could be improved. Perhaps Odhran Lynch and Ciaran McFaul are secretly training g to improve their long distance accuracy!! 

 Looking forward to another good performance against Tyrone. It would be nice if Eoin McEvoy and his clubmate, Cormac Murphy, would both be available to start and that Oisin McWilliams and Enda Downey would be able to take their places on the bench.

What's the story with all the Downey's? All now playing football in Antrim, none seem to have kicked on at all? Are they dogged with injuries?

Seriously what has Enda Downey done to get that promotion in your opinion D.O. Have seen hi a few times and he has been underwhelming.

Why I think was highlighted by the strong team selection by Mickey Harte for round 1 of the league. Like Jack O'Connor on his return to Kerry it looks like the clear aim for Derry is to win every competition they'll enter.


NFL final is set for March 31st and should they reach it they'll still have three weeks to prepare for the opening round of the Ulster championship.

That will require
1. steroids
2. scoring forwards
3. no injuries

Will be interesting to see if Glen players play. Mickey Harte has no experience of managing that situation given that Tyrone have won no senior club All Ireland's. I wonder does that mean Derry are the more successful footballing county now? 4 club All Ireland's and 1 county versus Tyrone's 4 county All Irelands. After all you people always say that club is more important.

Murphy has been dangerous for Derry when he's got the ball, big 2nd half needed with the wind against us.

After 25 minutes it was Derry with 10 of their team that played in the All Ireland semi last summer 0-4 2nd choice Armagh team 1-4. Unbelievable Jeff!
