General discussion / Fluid in the Knee
July 10, 2008, 10:54:03 AM
Anyone had fluid in their knee before.  My knee is now about twice the size of the other one and its full of fluid.  Picked it up due to constant falling on the hard ground up until a few weeks ago during games.  Anybody know how it can be treated etc?  Where is the best place to go - physio or hospital?

Has anyone flew with Ryanair from Northern Ireland to England recently?  I am flying from Derry to Bristol and was wondering if a driving license was sufficient ID.  There is conflicting information on their website and they don't like to be contacted.

Thanks.

General discussion / Going to Australia
March 04, 2008, 03:24:47 PM
Just looking advice for a few friends of mine who are thinking about going to Australia for a year or so around October.  Anybody here been or intending to go themselves.  Help would be much appreciated.  Thanks!

They are looking info on:

1) Cheapest place to book (online?)
2) How much you should expect to pay/also how much would you need at a minimum to go out there?
3) What do they require before they go? (Visa/??)
4) Do most people have accomodation sorted before they get out there or do they just stay in a hostel until they gey work/apartment?

Thanks again.

General discussion / Tyson v Holyfield 3?
February 28, 2008, 03:39:58 PM
From BBC Sport:

It was with a quick chuckle and a much longer sigh that I greeted news that Evander Holyfield, 45, may fight Mike Tyson, 41, again.

The chuckle was for the sheer audacity of it all. Only in boxing could two has-beens even entertain the idea. Only in boxing could they expect to get paid millions of dollars for making a ridiculous idea reality.

Which brings me to the sigh. Of all the boxing circuses we have been "treated" to over the years, this would be the mother and father of them all - complete with big top, trapeze and a Tyson-owned white tiger.

And then there is the small matter of Holyfield's bitten ear - the product of Tyson v Holyfield part II.

What would they call part three? "Holyfield bites back", "Once bitten, twice shy"?? The mind boggles.

Of course, it probably won't happen. It is very convenient that Holyfield's comments on the matter coincide with the release of a new book.

He was quoted as saying in The Guardian: "There has been some talk between us.

"Mike had Jeff Fenech, who's been training him, call me a few months ago. Jeff says Mike wants to fight me again - but he needs to know if I would agree to it.

"I said, 'It all depends on what they are going to give us - because I'm gonna catch a lot of flak if I say I'm fighting Mike Tyson again. I've already said I don't want to fight Mike no more'.

"Jeff says, 'What if Mike gets in proper shape?' I told him that's OK but I can't be part of it if Mike's going to pull out.

"Jeff said, 'The main thing Mike
wants to know is if you would be willing to fight him again?' I said, 'Yeah, if the price is right, I probably would'."

Is this just book-launch bluster? Would you pay to see it if it wasn't? And (sigh), who would win?

General discussion / 'I am legend' Issues
January 04, 2008, 03:26:32 PM
I watched the film last week, and thought it was pretty good.  It wasn't maybe as good as I expected it though.  Anyway I was wondering if anyone had any views on certain issues in the film, i.e. did Robert Neville get caught by his own trap?  Was the captured women the alpha-males partner?

This is how bored I am at work!

I got a copy of Championship Manager 97/98 a few months ago and I couldn't install the game properly onto XP.  I tried installing DOS Box but it didn't pan out.  Anybody got any handy solution?

Having a problem with the Car Radio all of a sudden.  Asking me for a code.  The car is a Peugeot 306, pretty bog standard radio that probably came with the car.  Anybody know what the handiest way is to get this code?  It's a quiet journey home without it!

Any suggestions are much appreciated!

General discussion / Ian Paisley Junior
September 20, 2007, 01:46:43 PM
From the BBC Website:

Paisley Jr fished with developer
The DUP's Ian Paisley Junior has confirmed he went lobster fishing with the private developer Seymour Sweeney.
Mr Sweeney's bid to develop a visitor centre at the Giant's Causeway has stirred controversy.
Mr Paisley Jr also confirmed that he and his father had lobbied in 2005 for a drift net licence on behalf of a fisherman whose crew included Mr Sweeney and two of his relatives.
He told the BBC he did this because he believed in the case.
Correspondence passed to the BBC shows that in 2005, both Ian Paisley Sr and his son intervened in a dispute over a drift net licence for a boat registered in Portballintrae.

The issue of a visitors' centre has proved controversial
Mr Paisley Jr supported the claim by the longest serving crew member, Stephen McLaughlin, to inherit the licence.
The DUP junior minister confirmed on Wednesday he had gone fishing with Seymour Sweeney, but insisted he had made no secret of this and knows many fishermen in his North Antrim constituency.
Mr Paisley Jr said he believed his trips on the boat took place back in 2004.
He has rejected calls from some political critics for a statement clarifying his relationship with Mr Sweeney, insisting he has nothing to answer.
The Causeway attracts nearly 500,000 visitors a year. The previous visitors' centre on the site burned down in April 2000.
Renowned for its polygonal columns of layered basalt - resulting from a volcanic eruption 60 million years ago - it is the only World Heritage Site in Northern Ireland.

Is it just me or is this boyoo able to get away with anything.  He made a few unsavoury comments towards homosexuals recently and now has been caught out again.  FFS, the only reason he is in a job is beacuse of his da.

GAA Discussion / Harte to Stay to 2010
September 05, 2007, 11:54:53 AM
From the BBC Website

Tyrone senior football manager Mickey Harte has been given another three years in the job.
Harte, who was due to enter the final year of a three-year appointment, asked the county committee to extend his tenure until 2010.

The committee agreed unanimously to the Errigal Ciaran clubman's request.

Harte guided Tyrone to All-Ireland title triumphs in 2003 and 2005 but the Red Hands were beaten by Meath at the quarter-final stage last month.

However, the Ballygawley man made clear his desire to remain in post just minutes after the 1-13 to 2-8 defeat at Croke Park.

"Maybe some people would like me to go but they are not going to get their way," he said.

Harte was named as the new senior team manager in November 2002 after the role was vacated by dual bosses Eugene McKenna and Art McRory.

The former county player had a proven track record after taking the Tyrone minor and U21 sides to All-Ireland successes.

Harte was managing the Errigal Ciaran club side at the time of his appointment.
