I keep hearing how good Murphy has been this season but has he really been exceptional bar the Armagh game?

Tyrone he was a nonymous from play having been shackled by Justin McMahon and against Derry he was largely on the periphery

Wasn't his best game overall for sure, but the two 50+m points he hit from play were vital scores, especially the second one which put us three up in the last few minutes when Derry were dominating possession. And even in the Tyrone game, when McMahon literally had him tied up, he hit three difficult long distance frees late on which won the game.

Outside of McManus, and the 2 Hughes, Donegal have the better players, and i expect them to beat monaghan, not sure what sort of match it would be.

Hopefully it won't plumb the depths of the league game!

What was the score - 0-9 to 1-4 I think?

It will be defensive though (to state the bleeding obvious! )

Are you sure those other occasions were not investigated? I'd find it hard to believe they were not investigated.

I don't recall it, but I'm open to correction.

Donegal and Tyrone were fined five grand each.

I would think, based on how we've matched up over the last few seasons,  that Monaghan are going in equally expecting to win.

Monaghan will not get caught out like last year. Before that game not many of us witnessed a defeat to Donegal, so complacency was definitely a factor in the flat performance.

For their part Donegal won't take us for granted, but we all know they expect to leave Clones with the cup.

It's a bit far out to be accurate, but the weather mightn't be a 'terra' on Sunday. This would suit us nicely.

Still haven't got me feckin' tickets and I don't want to end up in the Blueshirt (Eoghan O'Duffy) stand like last year. Any help by private message would be great. Family ticket ideally - 2 adults, 3 children.

Donegal WON'T take you for granted, but we EXPECT to win?

What is that based on?

This was big news in the states about six weeks ago, but people moved on pretty quick. There was a girl with terminal cancer who trained and lined out for her college basketball team who many felt was more deserving. Perhaps so, but I don't see how anyone can deny that what Jenner has done, whether you approve or not, is courageous.

pacific instead of specific.

You've heard someone use THAT??

Should of, would of etc.

It's should have or should've, morons!

Wasn't at least part of the idea to take money out of circulation to ease inflation fears at the time?

25% top up though! :o

The Donegal one used to come out our road years ago, but people got fed up with the ruined roads, bridges and hedges, and being scared shitless of a child or an animal getting onto the road. We used to be made sit well back,  like 30 yards back from the road, sitting up on a hill,  to watch it. I could never understand the morons who stand at the side of the road, often on roads so narrow they have the grassy median between the tyre tracks. The ignorance and complacency is mind boggling.

And McBrearty is back to full training this weekend too, apparently.

People cry about the quality of football these days. Look at this passage from the 1979 Ulster Final (the goal was a decent strike, but the amount of aimless, anywhere will do kicking!)

But let's say Leitrim or Longford had a group of players come through that had the talent to win a provincial title and make an AI semi or better. Is it wrong that the business community in that county and it's diaspora dip into their pockets to maximize the chances of the team winning something while they can?

Or is the argument that they will never have those players at all due to the disparity?

Basically, what difference does it make to Leitrim or Fermanagh if their neighbours in Donegal have someone fund a team camp in advance of an AI final. We are not robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Are central funding of clubs and youth coaching, and sugar daddies helping prep a senior county team that is enjoying short term success, not two separate issues?

I think Donegal,  at least at the start, have got the money because they grew into a contender,  not vice versa. If McGuinness had not come along,  neither would the financial backing. As we got more successful,  more money was sourced to keep it going e.g. the five day camp in Enniskillen to prepare for the Dubs. If and when we slip back into the pack,  I would imagine the tap will be turned off, at least a bit. And a lot of this cash flow is contingent on a long season.  Had Derry beaten us last week and we lost in the qualifiers next week, i doubt if we would be anywhere near the top for the season.

So win or lose the Ulster final, we could easily be meeting Tyrone or Armagh again.
