It can be a legitimate thing tbh. Not everyone who says they are suffering anxiety is suffering anxiety mind you but the wife has a family member who suffers from it. Wouldn't be the nicest thing if you just over worry and over stress on everything and it gets on top of you.

There are plenty of chancers private sector too though possibly not as many. I was talking about this recently and there are some bluffers in high up positions that you need to deal with at times not to mention non high up positions where there's not a day of work in them.

Does not really surprise me, that is almost 3 extra weeks on top of their generous annual leave.

One of the supposed reasons for high sickness level is stress / anxiety, if the job is that sh+t go work in the private sector (real world).  However no chance of that happening.

Someone once said the best cure for sickness is self-employment, they were not far wrong.
I can't even begin to imagine the amount of dossers that are in the civil service. I'm private sector and the number of spoofers that pull the mental health card is shocking. The anxiety one really gets to me. Wtf is anxiety? Had one ex-employee who put in a sickline because they had anxiety. The fact that their work commitments and extensive social calendar were clashing had absolutely zero to do with it of course.

Seemingly the amount of school absences with  all  these new fangled  mental health problems are through the roof as well.

I'm going  to go all Abe Simpson here , but  in my day at school , it was "get the f**k to school", whether you were anxious, being  bullied or whatever.

Friend of ours  told us recently she got a call from her child's form teacher. Story goes That that morning, with the mayhem of everyone  getting up for school/work , the mother shouts to the daughter to get  up/get a move on or whatever, girl goes to school and tells the nurse/psychologist/AN Other about her mother  shouting at her that morning. Teacher phones the mother.  She  thought it was a joke, but the teacher was very  concerned about the  affects of this on the child.  Christ almighty!

I remember speaking to a lad a few years ago in public sector about the benefits he gets and he told me something like  25 days plus 12 public holidays plus can accrue an additional 3 days a month once they work over 37.5 hours.  He then said "then I normally use up a couple of sick weeks there as well if need a bit of extra time off."

My Mrs works in public sector once she starts talking about work and stress I switch off. The general process is that if someone doesn't like something about their job/ someone they work with or their manager tells them something they don't like they go off and get their full pay for 6 months.  I am your standard 9 to 5 Monday to Friday, but if you were on the laptop at 5.15 getting something finished up she would ask why are you doing that you finish at 5.

I would love to see the figures for public sector employees dismissed through long term sickness or frequent short term absence.

Assume she's not in healthcare?

True dat. The hours and pay for many health care workers is horrendous.
The level of exploitation in public sector and many parts of private sector here is disgusting.

not wise. Everyone is so afraid of being accused of something now that the childs well-being has gone to the bottom of the pile.

I was watching the Joe Biden documentary last night. He had a stammer when young and wasn't well off, but the motto in his house was get up and keep going. His wife and daughter were killed in an accident. He became President, and one that history may look better on than appears now. There needs to be a touch of "I get knocked down and I get up again".

This is about some nut job killing 39 dogs

But yeah mauling a kid e would be an ok scenario

Seen a dog the other the day, my god that thing would tackle a tiger

Absolutely no need for these dogs, off topic  ;D
