United fans at risk of overhyping the first half performance. Arsenal's xG was four times that of United, and then second half was a completely different story.

No gaping chasms down the middle any more though, which is instantly noticeable.

Amorim has said it'll take years and it'll be down to how much big sir Jim is willing to invest as the squad still needs overhauled. Hojlund is yet to convince and Zirkzee is a donkey. Antony was utterly appalling when he came on. Yoro looked solid on his debut and if Amad keeps developing, he could be the future of the attack for years to come.

Quote from: Turf on December 04, 2024, 09:27:33 PMThe draw probably the fair result but that's gutting not to win.
Poor decision by Kelleher to let the ball go out for a goalkick.

He wasn't great for the second goal either.

Posturing, nothing more. Even if the GAA were to try and negotiate something with the AFL on a voluntary basis, I'm not sure it's a good look.

Already confirmed.

Quote from: imtommygunn on December 03, 2024, 11:16:23 AMFor me this election was a decent one for SF. Ultimately they will have wanted power yes but it was still a strong one for them.

I say none of this as a pro SF person  ;)

It depends on what your point of reference is. If looking at polls in the months before the election, then yes, they've done excellently and have recovered a lot of lost ground. They've also picked up two more seats than last time, but given the increase in the size of the Dail, that shouldn't be overstated.

If your point of reference is the previous election, then it would be reasonable to consider that there might be disappointment, or a sense of underperformance. Their first preference share dropped significantly, and they've failed to make inroads against the incumbent, inept, incompetent administration.

Can spin it either way. The reality of it is somewhere in the middle.

There's membership of the GAA and membership of a club, surely. Membership dues and policy presumably down to each individual club.

You'd be entitled to ask for a refund of whatever portion of your membership is paid to the GAA from your second club, but I don't think they'd be obliged to give it to you.

Quote from: tbrick18 on December 03, 2024, 10:24:30 AMCan I ask, are these new rules going to apply to underage games too?
What about ladies football? Pitches are going to be a mess if there are clubs with both ladies and men's football that have different marking no?

*I'll caveat my question with a note to say I haven't read much into the details of the new rules apart from the high level.

Ladies football governed by a different organisation that hasn't implemented the rules, so I presume not.

Quote from: Harold Disgracey on December 02, 2024, 10:12:13 PMSo it'll be FF/FG and 2 easily bought independents? Boxer Moran and who else?

The Healy Rae's aren't easily bought, but a few K to their off-shot companies will do it.

Let me get this right, SF had a "terrible" election yet ended up with two more seats than they did last time out?

Also in relation to a UI. With Mehole Martin as Taoiseach he'll not lift one finger to do any groundwork, the worst kind of a lick-spittle you can image.

They're very easily bought. Just expensive.

I'm not making a case at all. I'm stating my specific preference. You're the one who landed in with the big sweeping "nobody cares".

And if you're interested (you're evidently not) it has the ability to tell you a lot more than that.

You don't care, I do. So f**k, move on.

Every club in the country would need a new scoreboard then?

I'd be happy enough leaving it as it is, maybe try the new option on tv with the total in brackets?

Digital scoreboards will be able to be reprogrammed.

Every club in the country will have bigger issues to deal with as a result of the new rules than how they display their scoreboard.

Quote from: gallsman on December 02, 2024, 07:26:39 PMOption B provides the most information as to how the game has gone.

But who really cares? When you turn on the rugby and see the score is 18-10 you might ask who scored the tries (if any). But do you really panic wondering 'oh 18 points! Did they score 6 penalties? Or 2 tries, 1 conversion and two penalties? Or 3 drop goals and 3 penalties? Or ? ...

No one cares. The total is all that matters and I dont see why we would continue to give goals a separate importance but not the 2 pointers (which while slightly less significant on the scoreboard are probably more impressive).

That's simply not true at all if you want to know anything other than who won the game.

If I'm reading scores and see that a team won by 5-6 to 0-19, that tells me more than a scoreline of 21-19. Maybe you don't care at all, good for you. Other people do and will.

Awful harsh on Portaferry, and McGrattan in particular missing a few frees down the stretch after having had a stormer but fair play to Slaughtneil. Don't think they were at their best and they found a way to win. They'll be hard stopped and think they're a match for any of the other three teams.

The two monster points from O'Miánain after they conceded the late goal worthy of winning any match.
