Quote from: GTP on February 28, 2025, 10:03:50 PMI read it as you can take a solo and go within 4m. If you are outside the 4m it goes back for a conventional free to the same team.
I am sure we will find out at the weekend when everyone including referees will definitely know what the rules are.

You can pass the ball to someone when fouled to take solo and go. This has to be within 4 metres. He can then take 4 metres before having a solo. So taking them potentially 8m up the field without contact, mental rule.

Quote from: TwoUpTwoDown on February 14, 2025, 09:04:52 PMSeen details handed out to junior clubs during the week. With the new 3 and 3A structure, they are going for 8teams in 3 and 10teams in 3A. Surely that makes absolutely no sense? Why not 9 and 9? Instead the teams in 3 have 14 games and the teams in 3A have 18 games, including 5 in 15 days, with the last of those being 13 days out from the championship.

I appreciate organising of fixtures isn't easy, but this is a bit of a nonsense.

Did the clubs not play for 'top 8' last year to be in 3A? Can't just change that now because omagh is entering a 3rds team.

I get your point completely, but you have the perceived weaker teams playing a bagful of fixtures leading up to championship and the stronger teams not under the same pressure. Strikes me as being unnecessarily unfair, but maybe that's just me.

Just do 9 and 9. Had Omagh been in the division last year, that's what they would have done I'm sure.

Heavy enough in Omagh when passing through earlier. Can't see it going ahead.

Preseason Cups - starts Saturday 15th March

Division 1 & Division 2 will be combined - 8 groups of 4 teams (2 Div 1 & 2 Div 2 per group)

Top 8 will play in quarter-finals for Jim Devlin Cup, bottom 8 will play in quarter-finals for Frank O'Neill Cup

Division 3 combined - 2 groups of 4 and 2 groups of 5 (TBC)
Top 4 will play in semi-finals for McGarrity Cup

Fixtures will run week-on-week from 15th March, excluding Easter Weekend.
Finals are scheduled for 26th/27th April.

All County League - starts weekend 9/11th May

No July break being set down by the CCC in 2025.

The no break has its pros and cons. Means lads can't plan a break but should also cut down the 2 games in 3 days nonsense.

Pre season comps will be important this year with the impact of new rules. Did the confirm the 3a and 3b structure?

Quote from: tiempo on December 26, 2024, 06:00:51 PMSome really great archive footage of previous Errigal Ulster success

Really can't be understated how valuable footage like this is and even if not operating at the higher eschalons good quality archive footage of club life is gold dust, as a repository of club life, memories and people back in the day

God that 2002 Ulster Championship was some run. Those Cross games were battles. Filthy hit on Canavan by Francie in the first game.

Quote from: GaaGPT on December 18, 2024, 08:49:14 AMAre we currently struggling in our referee count? Will we see a split in the days the club football is played i.e D1/D2 Friday night, D3 sunday?

This was tabled at the convention. But surely it would make sense to keep Div 3 on Friday to enable reserve football? Div 3 reserve sides struggle to field on Sundays.

Quote from: Gael-in-exile on December 13, 2024, 01:07:19 PMThat is interesting to know as then if the line is drawn it around that Ballygawley, Canavan's and Dunmoyle area it shows a large portion of mountainous Forrest land which is likely unpopulated.

I'm open to correction on the exact Geography but that feels about right. The thing with Errigal is that in the next 10/15 years the population will only boom, as Ballygawley will be one of the best commuter Villages in the North of the Island when the A5 is done.

Quote from: Gael-in-exile on December 13, 2024, 11:50:08 AMI've read articles on it going back to Mickey Hartes first book around the mid 00's.
And great numbers is sometimes birth rates and not geographical size so while I understand the point it can be dependant on context.

I suppose if I look at google maps it's telling me it would take 15 mins (10 miles) from Quinn's Corner which I assume is in the club area to the pitch.
That's a very big area and hard to believe for an area with a large enough town and the surrounding parishes. I'm not sure I'd know anywhere else with that scope of area to recruit from across Ulster or maybe even further afield.

Quinns Corner would be Kileshil club if not Galbally. Errigals affiliation to it would be through the owner Paudge, not the location. I think, but I'm open to correction from an Errigal person, the parish ends just outside Ballygawley and just outside Canavans in that direction. I always thought the largest point was from the Augher boundary to the boundary with Beragh/Carmen.

Quote from: Wildweasel74 on December 09, 2024, 10:31:19 PMRef missing the square ball to the first goal a mystery, he's about the only person didn't see it. Maybe more of a game changer, than the red card in hindsight, as Errigal were average enough in the first half.

Was it not a stonewall penalty that he missed before that square ball? Errigal had a bit of smash and grab yesterday but fair play to them. They'll dine on that for another 20 years.

Quote from: Tyrone _ Galle on November 22, 2024, 02:11:25 PMReports Liam Nicholas and Seamus Harkin taking Glenelly next year? both part of brothers Hogan cup squad many moons ago but interesting where Keenan and Scullion go

I had thought Keenan and Scullion might go again? They went rightly last year and Glenelly aren't far away. If changing it would make sense for them to go in house after paying for outside men.

Harkin if able to commit the time for management, would surely offer something as a player? As for Nicholas is he not a bit of an enigma? Don't think he's about the club at all these days and probably wouldn't be the best influence on a strong younger crop.

Think Harkin was full forward on that Hogan Cup side, but think Nicholas was dropped off the panel earlier that year for a few misdemeanours.

Quote from: asherjackson on November 08, 2024, 09:55:27 AMDear All
I am trying to buy football shirts for my two lads here in London, O'Neill's website say you cant have the shirt on their website but I can have the international one(whatever this is).
Does anyone know if there is a difference between shirt bought in Ireland and the international one?
Thank you
It may be the two stripe/ 3 stripe issue. O'Neill's cant sell the 3 stripe outside of Ireland due to Addidas trademarking the 3 stripes.

*JOG beat me to it,

Also the same in their training ranges. In the North they can only do 2 stripes, while the equivalent in the South have 3. Look at their Oslo training range for example.
