Highly unlikely he'll do time given how lightly that many caught with thousands of images of child abuse are now getting.  From Independent - Less than a quarter of the 2,528 people sentenced for making, distributing or publishing child sex abuse images last year were jailed.

Appears to be the case that when he was 20 he was going out with/had a one night stand with a consenting 17 year old. He subsequently sent an image of her to his mate.

Obviously, a silly act (and illegal) but to see some of the twitter reactions you'd almost think he'd a hard drive stuffed with hardcore child pornography.

I'd imagine he'll be given some form of suspended sentence.

The word "child" in the crime is very damning. I don't know why the girl is treated as a child and also meets the requirement for age of sexual consent.
