The Healy Park surface, somehow, isn't as bad as it used to be. Used to have a reputation of getting waterlogged a bit too easily and I think it was around 2018 or 2019 that an announcement was made that the pitch was to be closed for quite a few months for resurfacing work - but that never happened to the best of my knowledge and quite incredibly since that announcement there's never been a game called off or moved from Healy Park because of inclement weather.

I suspect that once a newly refurbished O'Neill Park in Dungannon is opened that the Tyrone CB will take the opportunity to do some refurbishments at Healy Park - at the moment it's the only venue in the county that has both floodlights and a seated stand. The Garvaghey centre does have a covered stand next to a floodlit pitch but it isn't used for competitive games very often (rumoured to be concerns about the potential amount of cars spilling on to the stretch of the A5 outside Kellys Inn being a disaster waiting to happen, as well as having no turnstiles), while other potential floodlit venues in Tyrone have no covered areas for spectators at the present time. And yes, it's pretty poor form that there are no ball catchers in place at Healy Park - no real excuse these days about it blocking the views of spectators behind the goals if the right setup is used. Other things at the ground that could do with a facelift/change include the turnstiles on the Gortin road end (can probably get rid of a few of them, and use the space to help with the car parking), fix some of the lighting on the main stand & surrounding the terracing, and get a better PA system installed IMO. The irony is that the view from either sitting in the stand or behind the goals at the town end looking on to the southern Sperrins is quite decent - but the main TV cameras, being based on the media building opposite the main stand with houses to the left and industrial yards to both sides, isn't able to pick this view up!

The Athletic grounds, one of the better venues in the country has no ball catcher either.
