Found one of the few Irish pubs in Bonn just in time to catch the game. Tremendous stuff altogether. Would drive you f**king mental that they can't perform like that consistently. Not the biggest fan of Sexton, but he was absolutely outstanding today. What was that pillock Ashton mouthing at him for after he knocked over the penalty after Ashton wrapped him round the neck? Was great to see O'Gara winding him up as well. Not a hint of a swallow dive today!

Only downside was the incredibly gracious English guy sitting behind me. Made it very difficult to dislike him and abuse his countrymen for 80 minutes. I managed though!

Tourist attraction, I like it :D. Institution is the word I'd use. Either way it's better than being a crooks plaything..

Lol. Malcolm Glazer has never been accused of any dodgy practices or anything now, has he?

Utd due a big win and some luck against Chelsea. I think with a 'fair' ref ;) utd to win 3-1 over both legs.

All I want against Chelsea is a referee who gets the big calls right.  3 games in a row between the two have been decided by balls-ups from the officials.

Lol, is this still going on about the Drogba offside at the end of last season? You know, the same game where Macheda scored with a handball?

I'm in Germany at the minute and there are Irish bars in town where I could watch the match but would prefer to watch from the confort of my living room. Anyone know any good streams that are likely to be available?

Real won't have too much difficulty getting past Spurs, especially with Ronaldo back.

United/Chelsea could go wither way. United's injury crisis spells big trouble, especially with the FA cup to play as well.

Unwelcome trip to eastern Ukraine for a tired looking Barca team, but they'll come through handily enough.

Inter to get past Schalke.

If Real and Barca get through there will be five Clasicos this season!

Shaktar are better than some might think, I think they are better than Schalke and Spuds.

didnt fulham knock them out of europe last year - not sure if they are that great tbh. having said that - shaktar, shalke and spurs are making up the numbers in the last eight.

then again maybe all the teams apart from barca and real are making up the numbers?

Irrelevant. United got knocked out of the FA Cup by Leeds last year ffs.

They have earned their spot in the last 8 and teams should not take them likely.

they've added eduardo up front - he's not exactly a world beater is he?

could you see them knocking out chelsea or utd?

experience alone will beat shaktar now.

their best chance to progress is to draw shalke or spurs imo.

That's not my point. My point was that if teams underestimate them and take a match for granted, then yes, they could beat them.

On a side note, schalke sacked their Manager today with the team 10th in the league and awaiting a 1/4 final draw. Holy fcuk, what is he supposed to do.

Must be ruthless in Germany.

Van Gaal won the double with Bayern last year and lost the CL final and he is under pressure too.

Already been announced that he won't be there next season. The Bundesliga is set for a managerial merry-go-round in the summer.

Agreed. Away leg will be difficult over there. They're very wealthy and buy a shed load of Brazilians every year.

V maradona's Barcelona this was regarded one of Robson's best games

2-0 down from the 1st leg only to turn it round thanks to inspired performance from robbo.

You must remember it well.

Maradona's Barcelona were shite. Clemente and the butcher made sure of that.

Touchline ban for Sir Alex - 5 games.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/mar/16/sir-alex-ferguson-ban-fa

That's total bullsh1t but not unexpected.

Ah wise up. The world is always against him, isn't it?

He only got banned for three matches for this instance. He said that Atkinson wasn't a fair ref and should consider himself lucky.

Thats exactly what he wants to achieve.

I'd have no problem with the FA suspending him, his comments were out of order. I just wish they were consistent with it and pursued their own agenda instead of being led by the media. Plenty of other managers have had a pop without getting suspended. Tony Pullis said something remarkably similiar to Ferguson the same weekend but wasn't pulled on it.

Did he say they should have got a "fair" ref?

Next round is quarter-finals and yep, anyone can get anyone as far as I know.

Guessing...
United v Schalke
Barcelona v Shakhtar
Real Madrid v Tottenham
Inter v Chelsea

Actually... We will probably see Chelsea v Spurs in there  :-\

UEFA won't want two English teams in Wembley final so all english tie is very likely in the next round with the other English team getting Madrid or Barca

I hear that Platini personally fixed the weights of the different balls that will be used in the draw himself just to make it so.
