I was on holidays last week - a group of six (married) guys from Essex were staying in our chalet.  One of the girls in our group ended up hooking up with one of the married men.  She didn't show any remorse (she's not in a relationship herself).  The other five guys were laughing at it and were slagging both of them off.

I was kinda disgusted that a. she didn't care he was married and b. this guy's mates just accepted it.

(first and last time I will have been on holiday with this girl btw)

In this case, she's as bad a character as he, having been fully aware.

Sorry i cant agree with your post as I cant really see what your mate done wrong here to be fair.  The blame lies all with the married man, he's the one with commitments and possibly a family and a WIFE to think about but he didnt obviously care.  Your mate is single and has no ties or commitments to anyone so she is free to ride all round her.  She fancied this married man and he was willing to ride her, then its no skin off her nose because:

a) as said, she has no commitment to anyone else so she's not the one cheating
b) Also, it would be different even if she knew the man's wife but im guessing she doesnt as you's where in England
c) She will probably never see him again, she was only looking for a one night stand but i dont think she's coming back for more (see Enrqiue Iglasas lyrics to the song One Night Stand for this reference)
d) Nobody back at home in Ireland would give a shite if she rode some married English guy, it will be more scandal if she was doing it with the local mechanic in (insert local town name here) who was married (see Kevin Webster for reference)
e) She will have no guilt whatsoever and why should she, she spread them, he accepted the invitation so its him who must deal with the consequences.

That is only half true and a very shallow way of looking at things.

Up in the Air is very good. One of the best movies of the year, well ahead of most in its genre. Half rom com and half business movie, worth takingthe girlfreind or wife to if she wants to go to a  chick flick, suggest this one.

8 out of 10

The leading lady shows off her behind in it as a bonus.

one of the reasons he was in such a bad state and not likely to recover at that stage was because she had already had a go at him by poisoning him with heroin. Then she graciously finished the job off. FFS

General discussion / Re: Water shortages in Dublin
January 21, 2010, 12:30:25 PM
I think what happened is that the Dublin water supply comes from up the mountains and it froze so much that there were massive leaks. Initially they tried blaming people for leaving the taps on to stop their pipes from freezing. They let all the water flow out of the resevoir into the leaks. They are now saying that the water supplies in the resevoirs is very low as if we had a drout for the last 6 months.

Does anyone know anything about these. When are they going to come to an end? There is very little information about this.

I have to say I obviously have never been in that position, but I am pretty black and white on this one. 100% murder. Your woman was off her head. 2 attempts at killing him, the doctors said he was improving. Some people are pretty raw over in the UK but this woman was anabsolute loon. I can't beleive people have read all the details and are saying mercy. Maybe in her head but she was way out of line. She should have been stopped. Once again. This was her SECOND ATTEMPT. Unbeleivable really.

The outcome of this case seems reasonable enough. The guy who gave the robber brain damage did some time in jail as a warning but was let out early. You can not have people taking the law into their own hands or there would be anarchy. Having said that you can certainly understand why he did it. It was not just a case of someone breaking into a house and trying to steal a laptop. These thugs had the guys falmily tied up and made serious threats against them. The guy who got the brain damage was asking for it to be quite frank. It is not like it is any great loss to him as he is off doing petty crime again. It is not like he flew planes for a living and had to go back to work.

What would worry me (coming from a psychology background) is the fact that a doctor would prescribe anti-depressants as a first treatment. Its an issue that bugs me, there is a system in place were people like this should be referred to primary care mental health teams and their needs assessed by specialist mental health professionals, not just drugged up and sent on their way!

That is where the story falls down, does he have previous mental health form?

The Vikings defensvie line will be in one piece on sunday as Edwards is not badly injured. I beleive that will be bad news for Drew Brees on sunday and he won't get the time required to shred the Viking defense.

Vikings 34
Saints 19

The Colts will put this game to bed early.

Colts 35
Jets 17

I'm afraid TG is correct.  An acquaintance (certainly not a friend) has been going to the doctor claiming depression to help him extend the deadlines for coursework and as an excuse for missing class.   I was in his room and saw a number of prescription leaflets for an anti-depressant that he had received from the doctor but obviously never used.  Pisses me off no end!  >:(

So is there really no way the doctor would ever know that he hadn't actually received the drugs from the pharmacy?

I couldn't believe that it would be that easy.

So what, who made you the Uni police? My suggestion is get on with your own work and forget about what other people do, his actions certainly won't affect your work (unless you happen to get lumped with him in a group project but then again that may play into your hands  ;)).

And who made you the internet police?

No, in my opinion he is just digging a hole for himself and will live to regret delaying exams and coursework.  In the end he still has to do it!  I agree, nothing to do with my work, and won't affect any marks I get!  I was just surprised someone could cheat the system so easily, that's all!

He would want to be very careful with what he is doing going in to a doctor and claiming to mentally ill. One way or another this could come back to haunt him. He should realise that he is now in the system as a mental health patient, do not play such games with your life.

Ian Humphreys is a big omission. I can't really understand the need to pick four specialist scrum-halves, but only two specilaist fly-halves. If either fly-half gets hurt, surely it would be better (in a 44 man squad!) to have a playmaker ready to come into the matchday squad who is has worked with all the calls, routines and tactics.

The suspicious Ulster man in me would speculate that the inclusion of 4 scrum-halves is a wee arm around the shoulders of Stringer in case he feels left out, and the absence of fly-half cover is a big arm around sensitive Ronan's shoulders.

Good to see so many youngsters breaking into the main squad though, even if they'll nearly all be playing A rugby this season.

Those 2 are very delicate and need all the encouragement they can get.

I wish they would at least divide that big long list of names into backs and forwards. In fact I would expect them to break it down by position.

Can the GPs find out if you are not picking up prescriptions. Yes most of this stuff is computerised these days so it is easy to know. In the past they may give the impression of indifference if people aren't picking up prescriptions, etc but they will know generally speaking if people are taking the piss out of them by not getting the medications or getting too much.

The thing about doctors is their code of omerta means they will never throw stones, so you can go to them for sick notes or get the prescritptions for depression or whatever and they will know you are taking the piss but will say nothing.

that's not true, my doctor would throw you out on your ear if he thought you were taking the piss!

Doctors are a law unto themselves and it is up to each doctor how he runs his clinic. Your doctor would take the direct approach to insincere medical claims, others are snakier and might just put the head down and write the prescription, but that does not mean they have been fooled.
