Down / Re: Down Club Hurling & Football

No one travelling to Clones expects a win. I'm going hoping we can compete similar to what monaghan did. We can't be as bad as we were for most of the 2nd half last Saturday. If we are we will have another humiliating day in Clones.
Hoping for a good performance and then on to the group stages.

Quote from: Captain Obvious on April 20, 2025, 10:33:54 AM8,243 is all that attended Kilkenny v Galway yesterday. Is it just Munster and the All-Ireland series for well attended Hurling matches nowadays?
Munster hurling championship is the only championship in either code that gets any promotion.

Quote from: Milltown Row2 on April 21, 2025, 08:36:58 AMHow Utd still grab the posts is beyond me. They are dung but still get most of the media attention.

As for finishing positions a great Liverpool manager had a line about that... now how did it go....

Utd won't get past the next game and if they did Spurs are better
Because united are always headline news. No matter how bad or good they are.
Manchester United are the Premier league.
Deal with it.

How hard is it to get an air horn that's loud enough for the whole ground to hear. There wasn't even 5k in enniskillen and I didn't hear it at end of either half in the main stand.

Are both semis in Clones so the good people  in the town  won't complain when the Ulster final is  over to croke pk for Donegal v Armagh.??
Up to Tyrone and or Down to blow that out of the water.

Quote from: David McKeown on April 20, 2025, 11:16:14 PMIt sounded like the sideline was kicked just before the hooter there when they showed it again on the Sunday game. Although that may be a speed of sound thing depending on where the microphones were.
Canavan spoke about the 2 point free that donegal got but the highlights didnt show it. The highlights should show the major incidents
There were too many games over the 2 codes to cover. And those hurling lads love their chit chat post game. There should be a Saturday night show to cover the Saturday games.
The Sunday game is dreadful. They never showed or mentioned the black card in Down game. They just said it was a smash and grab. Lazy analysis.
As long as they spend plenty of time on the hurling though.

Quote from: gawa316 on April 21, 2025, 02:27:35 AMUtd could be on course to finish 17th. They have a tough run in...away to Bournemouth and Brentford before a proper 6 pointer against west ham. They have the Europa league semi's (that they will surely prioritize) sandwiched in between those 3 games, then they wrap it away to Chelsea and home to Villa who will probably be still chasing champions league football.
League place doesn't matter now . All or nothing on europa league. Keep men fit give kids a run out. The manager has already stated that.

Yes it is unfortunately for some.

Is the GAA+ available on them dodgy sticks? Asking for a friend

A friend said yes but the stream for the cork and kerry match was constantly going down. So he say anyway

You can't challenge for a ball in the middle from a kickout anymore. Will it be a non contact sport in a few years.
The ref was poor enough also.
Guinness and Murtagh  dragged Down through today.
Semi finals Next Sunday.

What a roller coaster. I still can't believe Down won thst game. All sparked by Daniel Guinness 2 pointer, we dominated midfield tge last 7 or 8 mins. How did that turn around. Murdock was rising for everything those last few mins.
Some amount of work to  e done for whoever they pay next Sunday. Donegal would.have a field day with that midfield. Fermanagh must have cut off the short kickouts burns was doing 1st half.
The black card swung the game back to them when Down looked like pulling away.
Burns made some super saves.  Fermanagh kept big pat quiet.
They will be sick they lost that.
Buzzing after that.

Nights like last night make a shit season all worthwhile. Nothing won and utd wouldn't be favourites.
But cup competitions have kept us going last few years.
Roll on Bilbao.
That Old Stadium has witnessed many great nights.more important wins yes but not many as dramatic as last night. The wee lad crying at 2-4 to him celebrating with his dad at 5-4. All in space of 6 minutes.  Bloody he'll, football eh. VAR has killed football in my opinion, it's mostly a bore fest, nothing boring last night.

Unbelievable game. Utd should've been out of sight by HT. That elusive 3rd goal just wouldn't come.
Then lyon scored and the doubt set in. 2 all and 2-3, then 2-4.
Casemiros contribution to the comeback, won the pen and assisted Mainoo and Maguire.
What a night.

Quote from: reddgnhand on April 16, 2025, 10:52:03 PMWas at the game tonight and half the time the crowd hadn't a clue what was going on. They are removing all emotion from the game. Armagh lost that game tonight because one of their players didn't hand the ball back. Its just ridiculous.
But there was 10 points in it.

Quote from: downtothecore on April 16, 2025, 10:15:26 PMWE have been awful at minor and u20 grades for sometime except for Lavery's teams at u20 level which were competitive and successful. It's not all the players fault...

That's very true.

That's a poor Down team. Constantly gifting stupid free kicks from scoreable positions. Is that the best 15 at u20 in the county?
