Those of you who are unaware; My Father battled cancer for 2 and half years and sadly passed away on the 22nd May 2009.  My Dad was a keen golfer, played in show bands as a drummer for years and an Armagh GAA Fanatic.

The last 5 weeks of his life, my Dad was in Newry Hospice.  The Hospice is a local charity which provides a specialist care service for terminally ill patients and their families throughout the Southern Health Board Area in Northern Ireland.  It relies heavily on fundraising events to keep the place open.

I have organised a fundraising event in memory of my Dad to help raise some of the much needed funds. It's being held on the 14th August 2009 in Lurgan Golf Club, County Armagh.  On the night will be bands playing that knew my Dad very well.

The reason for posting this is because we have set up a webpage for donations.  The donations go directly to the charity through this webpage and they make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it's the most efficient way to donate.   The donations raised through the webpage will add to the funds raised on the night.

I know money is tight for everyone at the moment but any kind of donation is hugely appreciated. It's easy to donate through this site with a credit or debit card and its fast and totally secure.

We are currently trying to gather up prizes for the night which will include an auction and raffle.  We have several prizes already including an Armagh GAA signed jersey(been promised it from a player but haven't got it in my possession yet but I've been assured I'm getting it), Darren Clarke signed jersey, a Tyrone jersey plus a tour for 4 people around Celtic Park. If you would like to donate a prize instead of a donation please contact me via a private message and I'll give you my contact details.

Thanks in advance for your donation and I completely understand if your not in the position to give to this charity.

The site address is: http://www.justgiving.com/Brian-Fox-Memorial/

Everyone is welcome to attend the event, its £5 in and you can pay at the door.

Hope this goes well for you. You should send a poster/flyer to Tír na nÓg, where your father was well regarded.

You should send one to every club in the county.

Best of luck.

I've one on the notice board in Tír na nÓg or at least it should be as the barman was to put it up for me last Friday

Ballyhegan....I'll give one to the brother in law, he's a ballyhegan man and he could leave one in for me.

I'll be contacting the lurgan liar and portydown times and hope they'll put the flyer in it for nothing since its for charity.

over the £500 mark now lads and also have a £200 cheque.  Without counting the money raised from the entrance tickets we hope to have £1000 raised before the event starts.  Its for a cracking cause and I hope you can all dig deep.

P.S. We now have an Armagh jersey signed by the Ulster Minor Champions  ;) to go along with the senior signed jersey that will be auctioned on the night.
