I didn't need them, I bought them just because I could....

You should have bought a few of them footballs while you were at it, as youse could do with the practice.

I'm not really a big hurling fan, the inevitable sight of a guy in black and yellow lifting the Liam MC carthy in September is like ground hog day for me.(all credit to kilkenny) however the young lawnseedlings are hurling mad they have good sticks and slithers but they don't last long when the training is 'the stick the ball and the wall' day and night. i was pleased to hear that the sticks and ball were on offer in German supermarket giant lidl. how bad could they be..? the kids could train at home with the cheap stuff and use the good sticks for proper training. so off to lidl in armagh last week and searched the shop no hurling stuff??!!  sold out? nahh.. i was informed that i was in 'lidl uk' and hurling stuff was only sold in 'lidl ireland'!! is this true has anyone seen any hurling stuff in a lidl store in the six counties. this is worse than kelloggs doing the gaa bowls and not doing the nordie counties. emails are already in germany no replies as yet. gonna try monaghan

Not really "making a political point".

LIDL has different specials in different countries.  The reality is that LIDL U.K. and LIDL ROI are separate companies so offers can vary.

I doubt that Helmut back in the Berlin Head Office is aware that the lawnseeds believe the Good Friday Agreement entitles them to cheap hurling gear and like as not the map on his office wall shows Northern Ireland is part of the UK.

/Jim.

These are the two different pages

The special offers are virtually identical every week. I suppose the selling of GAA gear in their local store, might get a few of the brethern a little hot under the collar.

Well, seeing as the thread has turned into everybody shouting for their lad then surely Bryan Sheehan deserves a shout..... corner forward, half-forward, midfield, goalie and freetaker !

No, I'm afraid unless he's had a spell in the backs we can't let him in!

Why is Maurice Fitz not on the list?

Lavery's tackle/charge was definitely dangerous play but I don't think he intended to break the full backs nose. There was a few other head high tackles throughout the match one in particular on mc Commiskey that could have cause him injury, but again i don't think the Mayo player set out to deliberately hurt him.
As to the game itself, Mayo dominated midfield and I would say had majority of possession, but just couldn't score. They had at least three outright goal chances. They badly missed Andy Moran who would have buried a few of those chances and killed the game off. Saying that, the Down defence didn't open up like the Red Sea as in Croker last year. The difference in the two teams was Donal O hare, who prob missed one score all night.

Caf's nose broken. Pure dirt.
Was disgraceful, full frontal as Cafferkey concentrating on catching a high ball. He jumped in without a hope of playing the ball. A real coward's tackle. This from Laverty who was shouting at the linesman before this looking for protection when nobody touching him. A yellow card given by Coldrick for a dangerous high tackle, joke.

quit your f**king yapping, proper order after the abuse dished out in croke park last year, what goes around comes around.
That was a bating of a different sort in Croker last summer.  ;)
Am I suppose to gloss over the fact that the little runt Laverty went in and broke a fellow's nose when he had no hope of getting the ball ?? As I said, a coward's tackle. You standing over the "tackle" ?
if anyone knows about taking batings in croke park its mayo people ;)

Dished one out to you boys when it mattered though

and went on to win nothing, as usual.

Still hammered you boys. Do you want to keep doing this or do you want to try to explain what you meant by your "proper order" comment?

it means i dont care that his nose is broke. i am partial to a bit of revenge and i am glad for him. there you go.

Revenge for what? You sound like you could be one of the Down people who assualted a Mayo supporter last night.

Was in the stand last night and didn't see any trouble whatsoever. Where did the assault take place?

Cross had more than enough chances to win it. St Brigids got a little rub of the green but thoroughly deserved their victory. Will make a great final.

General discussion / Re: Travel Tips Thread

Just thought I'd start a thread for anyone looking for travel tips as I'm sure there are plenty of well traveled folks on here.

I'll be heading off on a 3 month break in January. Starting in San Francisco and heading down Mexico way, then on to Fiji, New Zealand, Australia and on to South East Asia.

On a fairly austere budget of GB£50/US$77/€58 a day for two people. All our flights are paid for. Will be bringing a tent and sleeping on overnight buses to cut down hotel costs.

So I'm looking for tips for Fiji at the minute. Anyone been?

What are the absolute must see places, islands and any recommended routes?

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Sorry if there is already one of these threads on the go. I couldn't find it.

Travelled to Fiji in 2002 the year and spent around a month there. 2 weeks in the Yasawa islands and the rest on Vita Levu, mainly in Nadi and Lautoka. There are any number of island groups to visit depending on your budget. When you fly into Nadi there are a number of local tour operators who can arrange a boat ride or Sea plane(if your flash with cash)out to the islands. We stayed in a large dorm and with meals included it was around £18 a day. They had a number of different trips/activities some free. I think it is well worth while going to visit the Yasawa group, its one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to and is very laid back.

You just couln't make this s#+t up it would be hilarious if it weren't for the hassle for the local non-fleg flyers.

Regarding the flag issue, Mr Reilly said he was "extremely impressed" by a number of foreign nationals who he claimed had attended the protest out of their disgust for the decision to remove the Union flag.

"One Lithuanian man stated that when he lived behind the Iron curtain under Soviet rule people used to dream about British freedom and the Union Jack became an aspirational symbol, the foreign nationals explained that they came here out of a love for the British way of life and want it retained," he concluded.

GAA Discussion / Re: Cork v Kildare
July 29, 2012, 12:46:36 PM
Really looking forward to this one. Kildare will match them physically and should have the defensive wherewithall to close down Cork's key attackers. Mayo matched Cork's physicality last year and closed up their running channels, Cork had no plan B. Cork do have some very talented  players back from injury but Kildare will give them their fill of it.

GAA Discussion / Re: Mark McHugh Diving

First of all he is a brilliant player and played fantastically yesterday but the lad did take a dive to get Coulter sent off. Exactly the same as O sullivan took a dive to get Mc Guigan sent off on saturday.

Its a feature of the modern game aped from soccer which sickens me. Regular occurs even at club football now.
