Hope you are right, relegation makes no sense when you are trying to promote the game. Down should also be allowed to take part in the Leinster

In 10 years time you'd have 22 teams playing for the Liam in such a case.
How come Clare/Wexford/Offaly cant possible be relegated but it's OK for Laois /Dublin ?
Then of course Antrim are so special they cant possibly be relegated either.
THank God for nice uncomplicated football.  :D

For the record I have no problem with extreme Nationalists putting up a Statue to a republican leader of a previous era.
And to clarify ...I have no objection to them putting up statues to leaders/activists of later eras either. ;)

Our resident local GAA insider tells me Ros/Wexford is at 3 on Saturday.

Not if it's going to beget  20 or 30 long responses from you.
Sean Russell was a great republican who sought help from our ancient enemy's enemy.
They werent very nice but he was still a good one.
The Government to which you owe allegience are allies with Saudi Arabia ..a Country where women are barely allowed to breathe and have no rights, where Christian worship is punishable by death, where public beheadings take place etc etc
Why dont you fill 3 or 4 pages with that instead of something from the 30s and 40s which we can do nothing about.

Can't see past Tyrone myself if they play to their potential. They won't stand back and let teams score 18 or 20 points

Are they not capable of scoring more than 20 pts themselves?
Be brave and attack for f sake...esp if ye want to be team of the decade  ;D

Local GAA Discussion / Re: GAA in Britain

So it's Ros Juniors v London on 8th August presumably in Hyde Pk.
By the way I saw an excellent display of football from the Warwickshire U12s in Croke Pk yesterday at h/time in the Leinster Final. A credit to all involved and keep up the good work.

- I have a hunch that Ros will get the luck of the draw. Beat Wexford and then maybe Sligo or Wicklow at home in the next round.

Good man Barney but I'm getting worried when ye lads start saying nice things about us. :-\

I'll get my own back by saying that Mayo could get to the Final again but dont know if I should make any further predictions.
Last 8 ( leaving out Ros  :))Dublin,Cork,Mayo,Tyrone,Kerry,Derry,Kildare,Galway.
Depends on the draw then...however I'll go Dublin/Mayo/Tyrone/Derry and will flip totally now and predict Mayo/Derry Final.

McEneaney missed a push on the back of Flynn a few seconds after the throw in. He certainly did Kildare few favours.
Overall I think Kildare  got too tense after half time and went too short . Still they did well to come back and make a game of it after that disaster of a start and giving away 4 points after half time. A team on the rise I would think.
Dublin could go all the way but not with the starting midfield yesterday and Brennan getting sent off may be a blessing in disguise long term.

Again we had the disgraceful booing of freetakers by Dublin "fans" without an adverse comment by any media people. Now if it was a northern crowd doing it the media hypocrites would be venting their disgust.
A family in front of me animatedly rounded on their 5 year old daughter for not booing when a free was being taken.
Disgusting.
And of course 80% of the Kildare support was in for the minor but only about 10% of the other crowd ::)

They reckoned there were about 9500 in Wexford Park by the time the hurling started. I'd say about 6000 during the football with a great crowd from Ros 1500 or more.
I'm sure I heard somewhere about 4000 in Pearse Pk but not sure if I heard right.

Home at last from Wexford via Co Kildare and the Leinster Final.
We got our pride back yesterday in a battling performance following our (again) disaster at the start...a Wexford goal in 20 secs.
Some stirring performances on the wettest day I've seen anywhere for many a day.
Brady/McDermott/Keenan/Domican/Higgins/Kilbride all excellent but what about Cathal Cregg in his first game this year after his bad injury. Every blade of grass was  covered by him in one of the best showings by a Ros man for many a day.
Kevin Higgins was excellent when he came on getting two vital points into the bargain.
In the end a draw was f air enough as it would have been rough on any team to lose after a tight tense battle in a bloody monsoon.
Now we have to do it all over again (Sat presumably) so let's get down to it lads.

Do you not know A Fhear, that it's only Irish Nationalists who can be wrong.
Brits are always right .
