He survived the draw with Carlisle, but the draw with Everton was a humiliation too far.

Seriously, I would have thought he was safe for another game. The only logic I can think of is to use the international break as an opportunity to cleanse the stables. There are two obvious candidates, either of whom would be very popular. Shouldn't be too hard to get this right.

Right?

I think the decision was made a few weeks ago. They've only win 3 games in 11 and 2 of those were the first 2 games of the league. I'd say they looked at things after the WHU game and said we'll give him a few more to see how it goes. The run of poor performances was dreadful. I'd say after Carlisle the decision was made.

I still believe there is the nucleus of a very good team. Get the right manager and playing system in and the players are there to push up to challenge for top 4. By doing it now they're giving themselves a bit of a chance.

Agree. I would have thought the timing was to tie in with the international break, to give a little bit of space to get the new guy in, with as little disruption as possible.

Football's a ruthless business but managers know the story - it's results based.  Brendan can have no complaints and should know the score. He got well rewarded on the basis of getting good results.  The results haven't been good enough given the money invested.
That's just, like your opinion man.

Plenty of shite in that list of quotes. Plenty of perfectly reasonable stuff as well.

Right?

Draw, scraped through by the skin of their shite yesterday, not to mention a very lenient referee who allowed lucas to stay on the field after he tripped McCarthy and should have picked up his second yellow.

Liverpools MOTM was Mignolet, with two very fine saves in the first half.

I bet you could compile a similar list of quotes from every other manager in the league.

Is Firmino injured at the minute or whats the story with him?

Injured. He may have broken a bone in his back against Carlisle I think it was.

He should have gottena yellow for the challenge on McCarthy, but the one he did get booked for was never a yellow

I'd be amazed if a deal was not already done before he was sacked. It would be mad to sack him and then start hunting.

True, but they cant come out and say that.
I would say they had already approached the likes of Klopp and Ancellotti before Rodgers was sacked

Yeah, no law against tapping up unemployed managers, but it would have been a bit unfair on Rodgers to officially say that :)

You would hope they have. I can see a couple of weeks of enduring humiliating rebuffs before claiming that they wanted Gary Mac all along.

Walter Cronc

If not Klopp or Ancelotti then who?? Any other contenders?

Bingo

Its been mentioned several times over last 24 hours but the feeling is that there isn't a proper football structure in the club and the current one in place is manned by non-footballing people who themselves have greatly underperformed in  the past. When discussions start with a new man, this may come to the fore and risk losing first choice unless they get assurances of further changes. A new Dof aslo been mentioned with new manager.
