I got mine yesterday too, but on closer inspection the voucher for the two cans expired on 05/10/07, guess the postal strike affected Guinness too!!

RLL you have stirred some memories with this one.  Roy of the Rovers was a must read when i was a wee lad, Goalkeeper was also a great story, I have 100's of these in my attic somewhere.  The old Monthly was also a great one to collect as they used old strips from the archives.

I always loved the numbskulls from Beezer (I think also)

Christ yeah numbskulls what a classic..
And Goalkeeper too..He had a little skeleton as a good luck charm didn't he ?

Think so, he was always being compared to his late Father Gordon who died young in a car accident, the old man played for Scotland but Junior played for the Auld Enemy in the end up.

Ok fair enough!  Just very sensitive times in the North West after this announcement, high skiled or not though it is going to be very difficult for those made redundant to seek employment on a parity with their current salary from Seagate

Very judgemental of you Gnevin, Seagate would be probably the largest employer in the North West and (I think) one of the better employers in terms of benefits etc.  I would be interested to know what a 3rd Level Qualified Person looks like.  Maybe you haven't noticed but 3rd level Qualifiications are no guarantee of glamorous career prospects anymore and are not to difficult to come by nowadays anyway.
A massive below to the local & wider economy, it is vital that the relevant bodies react to this as the knock on effect for the region will be dire.  900 wage packets taken out of any town or area would be catastrophic and difficut to absorb.

On my home PC my computer does not seem to recognise any additional hardware i.e. when I connect my IPOD to a USB port nothing happens - I have done all the re-setting of IPOD etc etc to no avail.
I also recently bought a digital camera and downloaded the software ok but when I used the USB lead there was no reaction from my PC.  It is 18 months old bought direct from DELL.  Anyone any ideas?  Looks like the USB ports are not working or picking up anything.

Harps have certainly had some turn around.  I heard that the Winners of the 1st Dvision play the Leage Cup Winners for a spot in the Setanta Cup, if that is true we could have a Harps v Derry play off!

This was a heinous crime and always seems more galling when a tourist is involved as you take it as a personal attack on us all as a country.
Was nice touch that the Galway Mayor, County Manager and various Cllr's made the trip to the funeral, lets them show we stand by them as a family at this time
Whenever they convict the scum for this terrible murder they deserve to be locked up for the rest of their life, forget about remission or crap like that.

General discussion / Re: Minister stops UDA money

Those previous 2 comments were very gracious indeed lads, very insightful into your mindsets.

Regarding the Margaret Ritchie situation, I think she has shown great courage and conviction in facing down the gangsters in the UDA (Martin McAleese lost any of my respect after his golfing days with these clowns).
Jackie et al run their areas like some poor mans Tony Soprano (but obviously not as cool and substitute the Armani suits for Burberry hats), their communities are living in fear of them and giving them this money will only further strengthen their grip.  Does anyone beleive that Farset would be free of any 'persuasion' from these unlected representatives in the UDA.  They call the shots in the communities not groups like Farset (who I have limited knowledge of)
We need accountability for this cash and it needs to be channelled to the correct areas as there is no doubt these communities are crying out for the money and are in real need.
I do fear that she will get isolated by the Exexcutive today though, Robbo was his usual belligerent worst on this matter and shows that for all the laughing & joking the papers were initially showing us, they always revert back to type when faced with this matter and indeed the Irish Language Act.

Without getting too political (difficult over here I know), if this is what we are prepared to accept as Local Administration/Government I fear for us.  Legislation will still be dictated by Westminster and every opportunity they get when a decision goes against them, parties will simply scarper to Brown and his cronies to veto.

Shouldn't that be carp team?!
