On the face of it you would say the cops are useless and didn't do their job but then this is the north and there is always another side to the story.
Did Creswell have connections within the Police who turned a blind eye to what was going on. Something was never right about this whole sad affair.
I would just say they're useless bastards. I deal with them on occasion through work and more often than not I'm baffled by the lack of gumption some of their officers display.

Bizarrely, This story flew completely under the radar for some particular reason. And I always thought there must be some connections to this case when delving into the horsey world.

Apparently it was  Caldwell who  stopped any investigation .  Was it a case of him (or his PSNI  team) knowing Cresswell or his family personally and deliberately shutting down  any investigations?

One of the strangest  things I found about the whole  thing was, Cresswell was jailed  for  6 months previously for  abuse/controlling/threats etc to  a woman. His  horsey mates had a party for him when  he returned to the stables, like you might do if  someone had   recovered from a broken leg or  returned from maternity leave. Bizarre.

One of the victims of his abuse - Abi Lyle - just competed for Ireland at the Olympics. I believe the 6 months was for his beatings Abi Lyle back in 2010. Shocking attempt at a coverup for the most evil of murders.

Does not really surprise me, that is almost 3 extra weeks on top of their generous annual leave.

One of the supposed reasons for high sickness level is stress / anxiety, if the job is that sh+t go work in the private sector (real world).  However no chance of that happening.

Someone once said the best cure for sickness is self-employment, they were not far wrong.

I remember speaking to a lad a few years ago in public sector about the benefits he gets and he told me something like  25 days plus 12 public holidays plus can accrue an additional 3 days a month once they work over 37.5 hours.  He then said "then I normally use up a couple of sick weeks there as well if need a bit of extra time off."

My Mrs works in public sector once she starts talking about work and stress I switch off. The general process is that if someone doesn't like something about their job/ someone they work with or their manager tells them something they don't like they go off and get their full pay for 6 months.  I am your standard 9 to 5 Monday to Friday, but if you were on the laptop at 5.15 getting something finished up she would ask why are you doing that you finish at 5.

I would love to see the figures for public sector employees dismissed through long term sickness or frequent short term absence.

I can't even begin to imagine the amount of dossers that are in the civil service. I'm private sector and the number of spoofers that pull the mental health card is shocking. The anxiety one really gets to me. Wtf is anxiety? Had one ex-employee who put in a sickline because they had anxiety. The fact that their work commitments and extensive social calendar were clashing had absolutely zero to do with it of course.
