I was watching bits of that game last night thinking Clement is probably safe no matter how shite Rangers are as they can't afford to get rid.

Kudos to Aberdeen, would love to see them keep this going all season - be brilliant for Scottish football.

Rumours this morning that Gerrard is getting sacked in Saudi...

i've been saying this for about 4-5 years now. They're only getting by these last few years from loans, shares and raising funds from whatever means necessary. Eventually it catches up with you and Sevco manager told the world about it on live tv last night, his days are numbered (apparently if he's sacked they will currently still have 4 ex managers on their pay roll) and we'll probably soon see The Rangers III version.

Surely to god they've a clause in their contract that if they are let go the club will only honour that contract while they are not in a few role. Take a new managers role and that payout ceases, no?

TBH you could be right but i read that last night about currently 3 ex managers still on their payroll. As Benny said there...can they really afford to sack him.
He may well be a clown but i suppose you can play the cards you're dealt, they're getting more like man utd (less the money) by the day. In saying all that Sevco still spent 10 times what Aberdeen spent and he should be able to get some sort of tune from them (more likely the sash).

Is it not the norm to just pay out the contract?

Usually, yeah. That's my understanding of it anyway.

Clubs with good finances would usually do so. I'm fairly sure Rodgers was still on the Leicester payroll until he took the Celtic job. Actually took a pay cut to work effectively.

There have been cases in Italy where a manager gets sacked, his replacement gets sacked too so they bring back the first guy to replace him as he's on the payroll anyway.

Didn't think that would be how it went at all. There you go. Thanks.

From the Bunker

At the Dundee Match. Disappointed not to see Idah and Scales only get a quarter of an hour. Dundee very poor. Parked the bus. Biggest cheer of the evening was the Rangers result. Aberdeen will be tricky on the weekend.....

Targetman

I thought it might be tricky myself but it was a complete destruction of our nearest rivals, I watched it on Aberdeen Tv (Celtic TV buffering like feck) and the commentary and analysis was laughable, at 2 down we're still in this, at 3 down we have to score next, at 4/5 down its our keeper hasn't made a save yet and at 6 its Pittodrie's sold out for the Dundee game, Leipzig midweek is massive!!

From the Bunker

Aberdeen probably burst a gut v Rangers midweek - While Celtic went through the motions for a routine 2-0 v Dundee.

An Old Firm final. Rangers have won 3 out of 39 possible trophies the last 13 years. Probably the worst era in their history.

Celtic have 12-7-7 out of 39.

Celtic 54-42-21 =  117
Rangers 55-34-28 = 117

So Celtic will go ahead on Domestic Trophies if they win the League Cup final on December 15?

Rangers play Spurs in the Europa League on December 12 - 3 days before the final.

Very difficult game tonight and was sad to give my seats up for the game as I think it could be a classic (prob end up 0-0). There should be plenty of goals as Leipzip need 3pts or their CL season is over, this could play into our hands to try and keep it tight and as they push more and more for the goal we can hit them on the counter. Leipzig have a few injuries too so hopefully BR can come up with a plan and tactic to frustrate them and see if we can nip a goal, the only worry is the fans will be urging them on to attack, attack, attack.
I'm expecting a nervy game but looking forward to it...HH
