Thoughts on the keeper? Had a great game, could he be pushing for the number 1 spot?

Great band on record but has anyone heard them live?

1996 in Dublin when I had to chaperone the aul lad and his brothers in and out and home , Stormont under my own steam!

Like any big concert band, a good crowd makes the occasion, I've seen Neil Young half a dozen times and the 2 poor ones all
Had half interested crowds.

Still think should have found room to get Meisner in the tour line up for the 1994 reforming even if it meant swapping in and out with Schmidt.

Randy left them, but Yeah, maybe/maybe not. TBS got a raw deal joining the Eagles just for them to pretty much immediately break up.

Hate to speak ill of the dead but Frey was a total w**ker.

Did you see the authorized documentary they did a few years before Frey died?

Himself and Henley came across as real dicks, especially with respect to Don Felder, and to a lesser extent, Meisner.

Say what you want about Felder, but he's a brilliant guitarist, and he was primarily responsible for by far and away their biggest hit. Yeah, Henley wrote the lyrics to Hotel California and sang it, but the tune and the guitar work, the crux of the song and what made it great, were written by Felder, despite their efforts to downplay what was on the demo.

Repeatedly. Felder got shafted much worse than Randy Meisner. They only refer to him now as Mr Felder and generally only through their lawyers. The Victim of Love story was the straw that broke the camels back and Irving Azoff was a m-fer long before he headed up ticketmaster! Felder did nothing wrong except question the discrepancy of payouts of the members of the band outside of Frey and Henley. Kinda wish he had have lamped Frey at the breakup show

Felder and Walsh combined - and Henley as the vocalists really drove the Eagles. Frey was lucky he rode the coat tails and I have a soft spot for both bassists. Both incidentally stolen from Poco. Which is as good a reason as any to post this banger.

We had tickets to see them play Hotel California in its entirety along with a greatest hits tour in SFO with the SFO Philarmonic but the pandemic put paid to that. Gutted that I haven't gotten to see them, but may try for the Sphere if their run extends or comes back. Folks saw them in Dublin in 2023 (think that was their 5th time seeing them). Vince Gill is an exceptional stand in, by all accounts.

Quote from: Milltown Row2 on January 08, 2025, 11:33:57 AMYou could have a few best 3 but will going with

Life in the fast lane, great intro
Lyin' eyes

And any from Hotel California, Take it easy, Desperado, and Tequila Sunrise

Was actually just a warm up lick that Joe Walsh would play before rehearsal sessions for dexterity. Frey overheard it and the rest is history.

Not exactly what I said, at all.

There is vigilantism all over the country. None of it justified. Was momentarily curious that nothing has been directed at a notorious family of main character bad actors repeatedly disrupting their community as well as other communities.

Jesus Christ indeed, you're a touch precious there.

Is there no one in the locale who is interested in a little community policing when it comes to this clown?

Kind of surprised he hasn't had the shite beat out of him yet, to be honest. Not that I am advocating for that, but it just surprises me that no one has brought any of this family down yet.

Quote from: Tony Baloney on January 04, 2025, 05:41:40 PMGood lad Puck. If you're 2 months in then you'll probably never go back. I think I'd miss a nice wine with a meal or the odd pint at the club. The vast majority of my drinking is in the house so if I get past January I may knock all the house drinking on the head and save it for special occasions. Heading to Cork with some lads in Feb so not the time to be quitting entirely!

This was a big concern for me. The thought of not sitting with my Dad for that first pint of stout back home was a hard one to mentally say goodbye to. But that's all it is, is mental.

Good Luck Tony!

Almost 2 months alcohol free, something I never thought would ever happen. Was an almost daily social drinker for maybe the last 10 years.

Spontaneously one day just decided it was time for a break. I had a lot of fun for a long time - a great run, but am looking forward to the next chapter. Have no real desire to pick it back up again. There are a lot of great NA options out there if I feel the need socially. Still going to the casino for cards, still going to the bar for pool.

Good luck to anyone doing Dry January and to anyone who feels at all like they are struggling with alcohol in any way at all, there is a great life beyond it.

Thanksgiving and Christmas were the 2 periods I was wondering if I would have a desire. Thanksgiving came and went no issues. Christmas I had been squirrelling away nice wines all year for the holiday and a nice Christmas dinner.

Decided against a traditional Christmas dinner - went out for sushi instead.

Elon's dad f**ked his step daughter and had a kid with her. He had raised this girl since she was 4 and was married to her mother until the girl turned 22.

That's the kinda thinking you're dealing with.

Recently watched a show called The Kings of Tupelo on Netflix. Guy had a good life, wife and kids - decent career as an Elvis impersonator in Tupelo, MS.

Anyways, he got quite spun out about a conspiracy theory involving body parts for sale on the black market - and decided it was rife in Tupelo.

He lost everything, and was even arrested on suspicion of mailing Ricin to Obama and the Mississippi Senator.

At the end of the show, he realized the error of his ways with swallowing gallons of bullshit and conspiracies based on tenuous links of zero substance. He declared himself conspiracy theory free and I thought - well that's a nice end to the story.

Next scene, 8 months later - he's exiled himself from his family again and is back on the conspiracy wagon.

The thing about conspiracies lads is that the burden of proof is on you, not the other way around. Not being able to say that vaccines cause autism is your burden of proof. Saying you cannot say that vaccines do not cause autism is an important distinction.

Hope you don't lose it all, it's Christmas after all.
