Celic have got at least £38m from this years CL.

Getting £8.5m is good for Kyogo, who coast only £1.5m plus he's 30.

The timing would be the issue. At acrucial time with nobody ready to come in. This would be typical Lawell. Surely they must have somebody lined up but as it's Celtic, it wouldn't surprise me that they leave it to the final minutes.

Jota coming back for £8.5 also with 10% sell on fee. Hopefully it works out but I'm not sure.

Tierney will probably not come in now to the summer with him getting a few appearances for Arsenal this past few weeks.

His photo, which media outlets are using, screams 'crazy guy' at me anyway.

Quote from: Goals_Will_Come on January 23, 2025, 11:29:10 AMRumours have Rory Gallagher heading to Kilcoo. They will take no heed to a Jarlath Burns intervention.
Is Lacey stepping away? Would have thought he'd give it another year. Weren't far off Ulster considering they had a man sent off and players not fully fit
Maybe Gallagher only in as a coach.

They'll push for an All Ireland with him in charge. Kilcoo will tell Jarlath where to stick his email.
I'd say that's the end of Jarlath's emailing!

If true, it'll make look JB very foolish indeed.

Quote from: AustinPowers on January 23, 2025, 10:42:07 AMSo  what's the solution?

Another election?

No, a deal has been done. The independent group involved in government won't be recognised as technical group today, so won't have opposition speaking rights.

That should allow the election of MM as Taoiseach, and new government to follow.
Ceann Comhairle still to make final decision re how the independents will be treated.

Regardless of rights and wrongs, and I think everyone agrees the independents can't have it every way, the scenes in the Dáil yesterday were pathetic.

In what other profession would that sort of shouting and roaring be tolerated? They should all be embarrassed at themselves.
Daily reform needed as to how disagreements can be handled. Anyone roaring and ignoring CC should be immediately ejected from the chamber, and I think should be banned for X number of sitting days.
I'm loving the deflection.  Look over there! FFS.

Every political commentator has called this out for what it was. An anti-democratic stunt by Martin, Harris and their quisling Lowry. They tried to force this through by arrogance.  But they were found out.

This was their making and they knew it was going to happen. It was flagged 2 weeks ago. That's the whole point of this. They left Murphy in a fix. Washed their hands off her and then had their faux outrage last night. It was embarrassing alright...for Martin and Harris.

Let's hope, for everyone's sake, Martin and Harris drop their arrogance and show a bit more humility going forward.

Quote from: gallsman on January 23, 2025, 11:05:51 AMCan they if the solo and go/go and solo has to be done within 4m of the point of the foul, can the player walk 4m from the point of the foul and then go another 4m before actually soloing the ball?

It may seem like nonsense to be arguing but the point is that this is one of the rules that almost nobody had a problem with, figuring it could be a simply implemented change that would speed up the game and give options to the attacking player. Instead it too is a convoluted mess.

I think speed will be the issue rather than distance.

To have the advantage, you get up 'go and solo' and play on. No point walking.

All about speed.

Quote from: gallsman on January 23, 2025, 10:39:01 AMAre the four steps before the solo actually four steps though? Or the 6-10 steps players are habitually allowed in open play. Can the player be tackled in the four steps before he takes his solo.

I'd say for 4 metres.

Nobody will get to them by 4 metres anyway.

Quote from: imtommygunn on January 23, 2025, 09:28:09 AMFor someone who has no idea what has went on here... what is a summary??

Bsically FFG and their cronies (esp. Lowry) tried to be anti-democratic but the opposition pulled them up on it.

MM and SH went off on faux outrage ouside the Dáil last evening. Their pretend anger was funny.

I heard that clown Thoms Byrne on the radio last week with Carthy of SF. Debating the issue. Padraic Mac Lochlainn had flagged this issue about 2 weeks ago. But Byrne was saying it wasn't going to be an issue. FFG clearly as arrogant as they come.

Great to see them taken down a peg or two.

PS. Lowry. How ironic MM and SH doing business with him. #moriartytribunal

Quote from: gallsman on January 23, 2025, 10:31:05 AMInteresting clip going around from a challenge match last week between Cork and Cavan. Cavan got a goal after a player, rather than perform "solo and go" instead "went and then soloed".

Ref apparently didn't have a clue but subsequently the FRC have clarified that this is legal, and the player can take the usual four steps before a solo as part of "solo and go" rather than have to take a solo in the style of a rugby "tap and go".

Making it up as they go along.

Will defintely speed things up rather than the rugby'tap and go'.

Good to see this clarified but pity it comes to this a few days out from the start of league.

There'll definately be issues with the new rules.

Quote from: bannside on January 22, 2025, 06:28:35 PMBig game coming up on Sunday, Clare will provide a proper opening test!

On another note I believe Ulster Council are angling to deprive us of our right to home venue when we host Armagh in Corrigan Park in the Ulster Championship.

Surely they can't be serious?? Antrim officials need to be strong and stamp out any such notion before this gathers pace.

I'd say UC want to get as much cash in as possible now...after losing out on the Mc Kenna Cup.

I don't think it's her fault.

She's been hung out to dry by FFG.

Some mess in the Dáil this afternoon.

People can't get houses or appointments and are on huge waiting lists for surgery.

But don't worry, we'll sort it for our wee cabal to get speaking rights while they're on the opposition benches...but supporting us...from over there.

Embarrassing by FFG and Murphy.

Quote from: Tyrone Dreamer on January 20, 2025, 10:48:02 PMErrigal actually dropped a free short to get it back to 2 points with a few minutes left. You wonder if Darragh Canavan had been fit to come back on in those last ten mins could that have given them enough energy to get over the line.

Not with concussion.

It wouldn't be worth the risk. Only a game of football at the end of the day.

You will that in large urban areas and if they are able to bring in wealthy sponsors fair play to them. That doesn't mean they will be consistently strong.  Fair play to them for their win but they won't be another Kilmacud in my opinion.

I'd say they're better than Kilmacud and most other clubs.

Two AI club hurling titles and now an AI club football title.

All in a short few years.

That trumps (pardon the pun, today of all days) everything.

What I mean by they're not a Kilmacud is that I don't know think they will have the long term impact that Kilmacud have had.

No. I understand.

Just saying they're a super dual club.

This success will keep them going and plenty of talent coming through. Hard thing is to get ut of Dublin.

Quote from: GTP on January 20, 2025, 02:47:16 PMWould most clubs not be fully booked on pitches with training and matches for Gaelic games without adding the local soccer team in?
Owenbeg is going to be used during the day at times when little GAA activity, can't see it doing any harm or setting a precedent.

Great idea by Derry GAA.  Especially during the day. Top class facilities 30 mins out the road.

I wonder how much they're getting for it?
