I think Kerry and Cork are the top two, fallowed by Tyrone and Dublin the rest are just making up the numbers

Derry team selection and decision making during the game has improved that's why they beat Armagh(who are on the  way down) and Mayo (who are in transition).  They might beat Laois but do not have a good record against them.  Derry need a new management team.  The last two matches demonstarted that the talent is there to make a real impact at National level in 2008.  Its now over to the County Board to make that decision when Derry exit this years competion.

Folks

P Bradley was marked by Enda McNulty ..... name me one forward in Ireland who has performed well against him over the last 7/8 years.  I would worry more about the pace of the Mayo forward line.   I think it will be a battle beween the 2 forward lines with Mayo looking the best bet at this stage.

I'd agree with Loup Bandit and also I would put Paul Murphy in to give us a chance to won the 'dirty ball'.  PC talks about this but does not have any 'broken ball' winners in the panel (except Murphy).  Overall we are just papering over the cracks, Armagh will physically, mentally well prepared for the game but some 'desperate measures' may provide damage limitation

Folks

One of the reasons Derry had a big won in their last championship game with Monaghan was because Damian Freeman got injured late in the first half and he is Monaghan's most influential player.  I don't see this as being other than a very close game,  there is lots of room for improvement in ths Derry team.  How are they going to cover the frailities of Kevin McCloy (he does not need to leave the big square)if Monaghan get quality ball into T Freeman and Hanratty.  I think Diver should be played in a central midfield role with Gilligan creating space for him to attack down the middle.  Even PB does play he will still be 'off the pace' and Enda will have a more difficult time against the Monaghan defence.  So where are the scores going to come from???.   Wilkinson is too fragile at County level and lacks penetration and we need Mark Lynch to start performing in a half-forward role, forget about needles soloing and deliver the ball in quickly.  This is a team game amd at the moment we're playing like individuals.  There has been some harsh criticism of Michael McGoldrick who had Antrim's pest player to mark(C J McGourty)and I think he deserves another chance because he's an excellent club corner back.   My team would be:

B Gillis; M McGoldrick, K McCloy and G O'Kane; Patsy Bradley, SM Lockhart and C McKeever (lacks match fitness);  F Doc, J Diver and J Conway; M Lynch, C Gilligan and Paul Murphy (good left foot and can score from long range); P Bradley and E Muldoon       I am assuming P Cartin won't be fit.

Not much pace in the forward line, but C Devlin, G Donaghy and R Wilkinson would make able substitutes

This Derry team is not even close to the quality of the 93' team.   Players don't have the same commitment , desire or technical quality, P Bradley 'huffed' and wouldn't train .... 'mind you his club training is probably of a higher standard'  .... E Coleman wouldn't have accepted that, he commanded  and got total respect and therin lies the problem as also indicated by Max     The Bradley bros atitude is indicative of the current 'unprofessional' set up.  However, I hope they perform to best of their ability.

Tyrone are a very ordinary side since P Canavan retired and will struggle to make an impact at National level,  also the standard of Derry club football is and has always been much higher than Tyrone clubs.   Compare the number of Derry clubs that have had success at Ulster and All-Ireland level , however this success has not been replicated at county level.  As a whole I think Tyrone players presently are much more committed to the County scene

Derry will won on Sunday with a few points to spare
