General discussion / Re: Sky+
September 23, 2009, 05:48:04 PM
Having done a little more testing I have narrowed the problem down to one of two things.  The problem is with either the cable going to the return port on the aerial plate or else with the cables going from plate through the walls to the distribution/splitter box.  When i plug the lead going into the splitter box into a tv I still cant tune in a sky channel.

Thanks for the help

Having had a titer of wit I decided to try the rf2 port with the tv that was in the living room and it works so im inclined to believe that the problem is between the plate and the distribution box or the box and the second tv

Thanks for the help but unfortunately problems persist.  The rf 2 output is on on the sky box and I have tried it on different  channels but when I tune in the second tv, it does not pick up any picture.  Unfortunately I have already wall mounted the second tv so Im not really in a position to bring it into the living room and connect it directly so I think I will have to go and grab a small tv from somewhere and try from there.

In relation to the Magic Eye I was trying to use it as a way to detect a signal and fault but it seems thats not possible.

also what does he mean by "appears to be no wiring available for the internal connectors"

Thats in relation to the phones the engineer says that whilst there are a number of internal face plates for phones there seems to be no wiring attached to them to allow them to be connected to the main socket within the house.

Need a bit of help now from the more technically minded on the board.  I put a second tv in my house yesterday.  Behind the existing sky box in the living room is an aerial plate with a return connection.  I connected the second tv output on my sky hd box to the return connection.  I then expected this to allow me to watch sky on the second tv, however it did not.  I checked the signal spliter box in my cloakroom and it appears that there is a return lead running from the living to the tv input connection on the splitter box.  There is then two coaxial cables running from the tv 1 and tv 2 points on the splitter box presumably to the two aerial plates in the bedrooms.

The problems I am experiencing are as follows.

Upon setting up the new tv I do not receive any sky channels.

Connecting the new tv to the aerial plate shows very little improvement in picture quality of digital and/or analogue tv in comparison to not connecting the tv to the aerial plate.

The magic eye for sky does not function, and the light on the eye does not come on.

In attempts to resolve this problem I have tried the following, turning sky off and on at the wall at every time.

Tried multiple different cables for each connection except the cables in the wall.

Tried the magic eye at different points along the way, ie at the aerial plates in both bedrooms and at all connection into the splitter box.  No position allows me to control sky.

I took off the aerial plate in the living room.  The plate has the following connectors.  1 Aerial, 1 Satellite, 1 Radio and 1 Return and there are two cables coming from the back of the plate and into the wall.  Bearing in mind that only one of these is a satellite cable.

What I want to know is if anyone has any idea what is wrong with that set up.  I also have a problem with the wiring for the phones in the house as a phone engineer informs me there appears to be no wiring available for the internal connectors.  Consequently I am inclined to believe that there may have been another screw up by the developers but before I go back to them I want to be sure.  Any help greatly appreciated

Was walking home after the All Ireland final in 2002 and as I was walking by some flats near dorset street, I saw this young fella on the other side of the street steal a mobile off a Kerry woman as she was talking on it.  Two fellas behind the woman gave chase to the guy whilst I phoned the police and went to make sure the woman was ok.  About 5 minutes later the two guys came back bloodied and bruised as theyd been ambushed as soon as they went into the flats and had had their wallets and phones taken.  Took the gardai nearly an hour to get there, always makes me think twice about chasing anyone in that situation.

Great win yesterday for a very good team.  The ard sithour made the point last night that he thought Armagh should now be considered a powerhouse of football as they are in his words the best supported team per head of population in the country and because they were the only county this decade to win a senior, minor, u21 all ireland titles and senior club all irelands and a national league.  Not sure id necessarily  agree with him but it has been a great decade to support Armagh.  Has any other county ever won all those titles in a single decade?

I was chatting to him at a GAA function last year. He is good craic and seemed like a right fellow.

Id agree and he does seem to get an awful lot of abuse on this board

If Brown used the wisdom of crowds to figure out each number as it came out then why didnt he display them in the order they came out, that would have been even more impressive.

Grimley is not coming back, he is finished as a managerial candidate for Armagh for now and he is staying with Monaghan.

Houlie & Oisin are ready, willing and able to fill the void but are being made to wait because of the fallout over 'grimleygate'

Paddy Og and the board need to issue a statement as to their intentions, come clean and appoint the two former all stars, end of.

Would it not be best to delay any appoint in order to sort out the issues over the McDonell departure and Grimleygate?

Just after he walks away from the balls about a minute into the show is it my imagination or does he nod towards the camera, having watched it again I think there is possibly a three way split screen operation in effect.

Sorry when I say all combinations I mean the bit where he turns the numbers round that 3/4 second part

Houlie is the new man with Oisin his number two. he met with the CB a few days ago and has confirmed that hehas landed the job. Him and oisin used to own a few greyhounds together and they get on well, Grimley is gone fellas, get over it.

I wish houlie and Oisin all the best and paddy og will be announcing the decision in the morning apparently.

How does this stack with the claims the selection committee stood down?  Presumably that was all paper talk.  I have already lost all faith in this appointment, as said on another thread, the Mc Donnell departure should have been better cleared up and our minor final cleared up before the process even started

The thing that got me is that he did say it had been a year of his life to do this at one point, to me that suggests it is definately not impossible that he has pre-recorded all possible combinations.

On an aside i find some of his stuff really interesting.  I am front row to see in the Waterfront next March or April really looking forward to it

As a matter of interest would this post have anything to do with the post about another member being unable to access the general discussion because of the word lotto appearing?

4 - Clubs did more than ask about PG, they voted in favour of his appointment and were told that the entire board would resign if they didn't ratify P McD.

My understanding is that they were originally told that until someone realised the process didnt need club ratification
