How do you fix an alarm?

Friend of mine alarm went off when the electric went out in the area last week, came home and the alarm was going off, she never used it before and didn't have the code for it (It's in an apartment complex) I think eventually she unscrewed it or whatever to make it stop.

Was wondering is there a way of resetting it and putting in a new code so she can use it?

I imagine it's connected to the mains and that's why it went off

General discussion / employment laws
January 16, 2014, 04:48:55 PM
Any experts on here? Friend of mine was working for a company for 4 odd years, his attendance at start wasn't the worst but wasn't the best either, though in his work there are no clock in system and he was never pulled for it or got a warning for it either. Last 2 years it dramatically improved and all good. He recently went for another job, totally different discipline and got the job after 2 interviews/presentations. So he handed in his 4 week notice all good. Employers not that really bothered.

His new employers phoned him to say say that they won't be taking him on as a reference that they sent out had been filled in with both timekeeping and attendance filled as being poor, now he's no job!! If there are no records of poor attendance and bad timekeeping has he a case with the industrial tribunal on an employer filling in reference unfairly?

General discussion / TV problems
December 26, 2013, 07:21:00 PM
Well it's more like a aerial problem, I've ports in each room for connect leads to the the tellys for the kids room, now they never used them as much as they would have thrown on dvd's instead but my problem is I cant seem to get a signal when I put it to auto tuning.

Now i have connected the leads to the port and back of TV and nothing, I've also a "TVLink" box up in the roof space which seems to be linked to all the connectors and the lead goes out the wall and I think it must be linked to the aerial outside turned it on, nothing!!, now with all the digital stuff going on I don't know whether it matters (clueless) on this.

Anyone know what to do?

General discussion / Any caterers with advice?
August 08, 2013, 06:27:52 PM
Looking to do a spot of catering for the students at work for the new year, basics like Jambons, sausage rolls, small pies, nothing major but with a decent mark up price. Students go crazy for these things and with the local supermarket closing (where they got the stuff) there might be a wee profit to be made.

So I'm looking advice on the pros and cons of this before I give it a go.

General discussion / Near miss!!
June 02, 2013, 07:38:17 PM
Was nearly in a bad accident today on way to a match, was travelling towards Sandyknowles on the M2 to meet cousin to head on down to Ahoghill, was doing about 70 up that steep part before Sandyknowles turn off and it was as if the lorry in front just stopped, in hindsight he was probably only doing about 20 miles an hour and I was charging straight into the back of it.

I slammed the breaks and pulled to the right to avoid it, while doing that the Golf in the next lane just avoided me a by a whisker same time I'm slamming beaks pulling back into the lane with lorry!!! was mental never felt so out of control in my life. If I had have touched either vehicle there would have been a serious accident on the motorway.

Will be driving with due care from now on, drove up to girls who I just avoided and said sorry but they gave off to me and rightly so, as I was at fault, totaly. I near shit myself :(

GAA Discussion / Physical contact in Gaelic games
April 23, 2013, 10:41:26 AM
A lot has been made of the Black Card being introduced and there seems to be a witch hunt in hurling lately, with have jurno's complaining of lenient refereeing in hurling and top footballing referees saying the same.

Physical contact in both codes has always been a great feature of our game as long as it's within the rules then I'm fine with it, but it's impossible now to keep everyone happy and to have consistency.

The speed of the game has intensified and the size of the players at inter county level has increased, when tackles are made some players come out in a bad way, as Fergal Moore found out when trying to take down Walter Walsh on Sunday (what possessed him to do that I'll never know!!)

Do we take away the physical contact so that it becomes like soccer, a non contact sport? thus making decisions on refereeing easier or do we coach teams to not be cynical in the tackle, and make honest attempts to win the ball.

I've been refereeing for a while and players managers and supporters interpretation of the rules are always different, they only complain when the other team allegedly foul and never complain when their own players foul, if supporters and the like were a bit more educated in the rules and application of them we'd be in a lot better place

Hurling Discussion / NHL 2013
February 23, 2013, 07:05:42 PM
A lot of good games tonight and tomorrow. The big game is in Galway when they take on the Cats, Galway may win this game as they would have too many lads that they will miss on the St Thomas's team to make a big difference. Kilkenny not normally as strong this part of the year but will be competitive.

Dubs are big favourites against Offaly tomorrow for some reason, Keaney back for the Dubs I see hopefully he has lost nothing skill/fitness wise from the injury.

Tipp favourites in Cork tonight hard to call, Cork to turn them over, Tipp beat them later in the year

Clare Waterford game will be close also, nowt much between them

General discussion / Design your own Norn Iron fleg
January 12, 2013, 01:40:04 PM
With all this crap I'd say it's about time that the politicians come together and design a flag that will please everyone for Northern Ireland.

Would this appease people or would it not matter at all as everyone will disagree anyways? Throw in a new National anthem for Norn Iron also FFS.

Can't see us being a united Ireland for a least 20 years yet, so this may do in the meantime

General discussion / Anyone got Virgin?
December 31, 2012, 11:40:39 AM
Looking to change my TV/Broadband/telephone contract. Currently out of contract with Sky (for TV) and Talk Talk (for broadband/phone), Virgin seem to be doing a decent package for £16 a month and after 6 months its £26. Includes broadband, 30MB fibre optic, unlimited downloads, free wireless hub, 80 channels with recorder box, and free weekend calls (who uses their house phone??)

There are other packages but this one would suit i think. Anyone with any experience with these guys?

GAA Discussion / Heart screening
August 15, 2012, 03:53:28 PM
St Galls is running a heart screening day in the St Galls Club rooms on Saturday the 15th of September for males and females aged 14 to 35. The cost is £35 per person and is a very worthwhile health check.

Giving the current rise in young people suffering from sudden death syndrome it is recommended that all young people take this screening before participating in physical exercise as it currently affects 1 in 300 people.

Payment must be made up front as numbers are limited. Payment can be made behind the bar at St Galls or directly to Conor McAreavey who can be contacted on 07885987679
