On the lads leaving county squad issue, I believe Donaghmore were naive and will regret not advising their 2 lads to hang on a bit longer with the county then quit the night before league started.

Last year Monroe for Carmen, McNulty for Clarkes, McNabb Dromore plus possibly one or two others all quit after the starred games segment started and then proceeded to play in remaining starred games.

By that stage the CCC could do nothing and this is what all clubs will advise their players what to do in future.

Donaghmore just happen to be the fall guys despite the fact that players/clubs have done this for years.

Quote from: WeGoAgain on Today at 11:02:32 AMGames could have still started next week. Round 3 had Donaghmore and Eglish playing each other. Why not make that the first round and redraw the remaining fixtures if that is the approach they are going with.

I also don't understand why it is such an issue this year that fixtures have to be redrawn. Cormac Munroe left the Tyrone panel last year once the league had started. There are probably others from last year as well which I can't remember as well. I can remember Clonoe once had 3 players leave the panel and there wasn't redraw of fixtures - so why is it a big issue this year?

The fixtures definitely were redone when those Clonoe players left

Maybe the best thing going forward is just leaving publishing fixtures until a week or so before the start date?

I stand corrected

Are you sure they were changed?

Quote from: square_ball on Today at 09:51:31 AMFunny enough I did see Lorcan Quinn was playing a bit of soccer so was wondering whether that was with management blessing. Who is our back up keeper now?

Was extremely harsh this fella didn't even get a runout in the McKenna Cup or that dead rubber NFL game against Dublin at Croke, with that sort of treatment most people would be very reluctant to stay

That is shocking poor from management if that is correct. I just assumed he played some minutes in McKenna cup but obviously not. Is it any wonder he walked away. Fair play to him as he obviously wants to play football

Not the first time players have left the panel (I hear it is a total of 6) but the first time we have had a delay and rejig of the fixtures - setting a bad example.

This will open a can of worms now every time a team feels aggrieved

This event of players leaving county has been a regular occurrence over the years - loads of players have left after the fixtures were released

What happens now if a player leaves the county squad in a fortnight's time?

Crazy decision by the ccc last night to delay the leagues. The poor club player is getting shafted all the time

The dive by Jarly Og was embarrassing to say the least and Armagh get an easy free moved closer after Donegal dispute the referee decision.

Quote from: Norm-Peterson on May 12, 2024, 09:25:54 PMI wonder did they ever manage to drag McBrearty off the stand, wittering on for a long time.
Cringey stuff from Niblock too chuckling every time McGuinness did a fist pump.

It wouldn't surprise me if Tyrone beat Donegal in 2 weeks. No great shakes
Also that is a very posh voice of Thomas Kane for a South Derry person.

Tyrone will beat Donegal if they start the right team and introduce subs earlier to inject some energy

Brilliant game, fair play to both teams and unfortunately there had to be a loser.

One thing I can't comprehend is the fist pumping and celebrating of Armagh players after scoring a point, never mind a goal. Forker set the tone doing it after 1 minute. Nugent done it 3 times after coming in as a sub.

Are they too psyched up and not composed enough - bring too much pressure on themselves.

Benny did as good a job as the U20s did. Probably won more games than the u20s?
[/quote]

No he did not.. that u20s team were shocking at minor level and have won a trophy at u20 level having drawn with Tyrone in the championship. Their improvement is remarkable.

What trophy did the u20's win?

Quote from: Tyrone12345 on May 03, 2024, 11:58:56 AMJunior league starting this weekend. What are we thinking this year? Killeeshil very hard to look past, expecting a big year from them. In terms of dark horses, I'd be looking at drumquin and glenelly. Two good young sides with plenty of quality.

Eskra vs Killyman
CNG vs Augher
Strabane vs Derrytesk
Urney vs Killeeshil
Glenelly vs Brackaville
Aghaloo vs Tattyreagh
Donaghmore III vs Brocagh
Errigal III vs Drumquin

Full house

FFS, even Ian Paisley Jr could have predicted them results.

Quote from: ardtole on May 04, 2024, 12:27:15 PMNavan would be the most logical venue for the Down v Offaly game. Tullamore and Newry both approx 60 mins from Navan.

Logic and GAA normally don't go together in the same sentence...

Derry were 4 up at HT in ET and then decided to give up the kickouts (which they dominated in the first half of ET) this gave Tyrone the impetus to come and chase down the lead - Derry will be devastated - poor game management both on the pitch and along the line letting that lead slip.

Quote from: An Watcher on April 29, 2024, 06:52:35 AMWhat did yous think of canavan on the Sunday Game last night.  Thought he was critical without being overly so.  Mentioned that Tyrone put no pressure on the new donegal keepers kick outs. He thought that Morgan could have come out a bit more just to pressurise him on the kick outs without going gong ho like derry.  At the same time he mentioned the lack of men to come off the bench.

I actually thought Canavan held back and done well to do so - it was apparent he was frustrated at the performance. He highlighted the kickouts as you say plus detailed a few times Tyrone moved the ball at pace and got scores from and questioned why we didn't do this more often plus he queried why we didn't use the bench more especially in ET
The fact his youngest son only got on in ET must be hard for him to stomach especially after playing well in Cavan last week.
Cian Mackey didn't miss Tyrone however. Said they had no bite, didn't play on the edge, were never on the front foot going for the jugular and said it was not the type of Tyrone team he played against (understandable considering the turnover in players plus age profile).

Quote from: square_ball on April 28, 2024, 08:51:06 PMLack of any sort of strength in depth killed us today. One enforced sub and another in the 63rd minute in normal time tells the tale.

Can't fault the effort and performance and probably should have seen it out in normal time. Once it went to extra time we were always going to struggle particularly with the lack of changes made.

Hopefully Meyler and Harte will be back for the group stage. I'd be expecting QF minimum and then after that who knows.

Our refusal by the management to use our bench killed us today. Yes, they may lack experience but if they were good enough in ET last week then surely they were today. To throw away a 3 point lead with 15 to go and then a 1 point lead deep into injury time was very disappointing.
Once Donegal went ahead, you never felt we would win

Quote from: An Watcher on April 28, 2024, 09:33:51 PM3rd place wrecked us in the groups last year.  Westmeath followed by donegal so by the time we got to kerry on the third weekend we were knackered.  Hopefully there's better luck with the draws this year

That was our own fault. Got chinned early in Ulster and then only ended up 3rd in our group as you say. If you want a break between the group stages and the knockout then you must finish first in your group as 2nd plays 3rd in the preliminary quarter finals.
