The now big two in the West will contest the FBD league final .

James Horan will be bitterly disappointed after making several statements saying they were aiming to win the fbd . Massive test against Roscommon now awaits in 13 days time. Half the goys are pissed up in Prague hanging out of scantily clad women , hard to see them been up to speed for Ros game . We could really struggle this year but that's to be expected I suppose in year one of the rebuild of the mayo way .

€15 on the gate (10 for advance) seems like a rip off for a meaningless preseason game.

That's why Horan was saying he wanted to win the FBD this year. Get the supporters out paying €15 in!

We are always going to struggle this year. Dads Army at this stage. We could not seal the deal at our peak! I can't see any reason why we should in decline.

A lot of Mayo supporters who are used to this coming from no where against the odd the last 2/3 years are in for a shock if they think the Mayo AI final 2017 are still the same as the current crew.

This is not based on the FBD today. This competition is a Joke. Charging €15 in is a joke!

So much of a joke that half the county descended on Tuam today to jeer freetakers and fire abuse at umpires

The mayo support has turned into animals , mostly frustrated single mothers from downtrodden towns in East mayo .
Walk-in down mchale rd , sun out, summers day , game day . That's all .

A savage Mayo crowd at it in all respects.

Sure only an old pre season blow out.

Bit of a hodge podge of a forward line sent out by Galway on the day.  The introduction Of Michael Daly made a big difference I feel as he was a constant threat after coming on. Almost scored a super individual goal and a great pass for the goal that was scored. Easy to forget he barely played for Galway last year with various injuries. Huge bonus if he were to stay healthy this year.

The brother did well as well I think.

Out of the country so didn't make Tuam today - how did the new lads do?
John Daly, Dylan Wall, Kieran Molloy in particular?

Encouraging performance from sligo given the number of new starters and considering we were playing one of the top teams in the country away ;D

Great performance from Niall Murphy and young Towey from molaise Gaels among others.  Apparently one of the smiths handpssed the  all into the sligo net and the goal was awarded, maybe it hit a defender but the commentators didn't think so.

Overall the game was enjoyable to listen to, good use of the mark by both teams and I think only 1 or 2 calls for too many handpasses.  Lots of booing from the Roscommon supporters throughout the game which apparently was also the case in Tuam..
I used to be indecisive but now I'm not too sure.

Molloy sloppyish, Wall showed well and Daly was fairly impressive tbf. He's a player for sure. McDaid was quiet out of the other newcomers and only really McHugh did well of the starting forwards. Michael Daly is class as alluded to above

Think McDaid has most to offer as an attacking half back.

The booing from Roscommon was towards that clown Jerome Henry. Not to first time he has rode Roscommon. I have read the booing in Tuam was from Mayo supporters to Galway free takers. Wasnt there so cant comment but it wouldnt be first time it happened

For sure. He's a fast ground horse. Was solid if unspectacular with Galway early in 2017 but looked the best U21 in the country later in the year in games including Brian Howard, Con O'Callaghan, Sean O'Se and Gavin White

Yep Mayo support has got completely out of hand , I apologise for the behaviour of what has to said is no longer a minority but a majority . Was beside a very large woman from ballyhaunis today , I actually thought she was going to attack a Galway player at one stage for nothing tbh , it was a fair hit on Colm Boyle when he was on the ground and the ball was up the field. Bloody hell boyler deserves a slap now and again tbh the way he goes around refusing to bow to superior Galway.

The Rossie booing was towards the mayo officials, there were some very strange decisions including a forward mark given to Sligo for a ball passed from well inside the 45. Indeed it was a very sporting game with both sets of supporters applauding
good scores by both teams.

Yawn. Try the joke a third time there it might be funnier. Or head away have a few pints and come back posting loaded again, that was humorous at least

Galway 1-9 Mayo 1-9 (Galway win 4-2 on penalties)

Galway advanced to the final of the FBD League final after edging out Mayo 4-2 in a penalty shootout after scoring an equalising goal in the dying moments of the match.

A crowd of around 7,000 saw Galway come from behind to force the tie to penalties and then goalkeeper Maghnus Breathnch produced the goods to block efforts from Diarmuid O'Connor and Andy Moran.

Moran, starting his 16th campaign for Mayo, looked like he would taste his first win over Galway since 2015 but Barry McHugh struck late in the game to force the game to penalties when he drilled home a goal after delivery from Michael Daly.

Mayo never trailed in the contest and led by 1-5 to 0-3 at the interval, with Jason Doherty getting the goal from close range after a delivery from the impressive Michael Plunkett.

Galway did not score from play in the opening half against the wind, with Mayo full-forward Brian Reape again impressing, shooting 0-3 from play during the contest at Tuam Stadium.

Doherty and McHugh twice exchanged points early in the second-half to leave it 1-7 to 0-5 after 46 minutes.

Galway got the gap down to a goal after 58 minutes after Johnny Heaney had hit the post when McHugh pointed a 45 but almost immediately Reape hit back with his third point of the afternoon.

However, Galway did not give up and McHugh saved them with his late goal before goalkeeper Breathnach saved the efforts from O'Connor and Moran.

Reape and James Kelly found the net for Mayo but Galway advanced to the final as Liam Silke, Heaney, McHugh and Tom Flynn hit the target.
