Title: PC Monitor vs TV

Need to upgrade here - am I better buying a monitor or an actuall TV for the PC?

For text resolution you are much better off with a PC monitor, go for a 27" -  just perfect.
A PC monitor has higher resolution for text,  on a HD tv, text is blurry and a pain to read.

I don't think a direct VGA to HDMI cable could work. One is an analogue signal and one is a digital signal. I worked in maplin for a while and we had a few people who came in with cables they had bought off ebay that somebody had just cut the two separate cables and switched the ends which couldn't physically work.
