Just a bit weird these people sent down to us chose to use their skills on warts rather than say cancer, MS etc etc

Milltown Row2

Two stories on faith healers, or cures, sty in the eye, woke of with this one morning few years ago, went to work and the lad I was working with said he knew a cure and he rubbed his wedding ring around the sty and I shit you not it was gone by the end of the day!

The other story is one on faith healers, and it was around the time my day had cancer and was chatting to a client of mine who had been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and given 6 months to live, so before he did any treatment he went to see a healer in Mayo, now don't get me wrong I think its a load of crap, but this is his story, he'd no reason to lie and I've seen him often over the past few years and seems a genuine fella.

So he went to the healer, the healer said that he mustn't take any treatment, chemo or radiation therapy before he does his thing, the guy run his hand over the area of the cancer and he says that will have reduced the cancer, go for a scan and see what they say, fella goes and right enough the scan reveals its lessened the amount of cancer they had seen initially, goes back again few weeks later, the healer again runs his hand over him and says that its nearly done and one more visit should do it.

Comes back few weeks later and again carries out his thing and said to him to go have the scan now as there is nothing there anymore. Right enough the fella heads back to the City hospital and the scan revealed that there was no cancer! Of course the patient has been telling the consultants the whole time that he was seeing a healer.

They had no answers, that was 20 years ago, the guy was as skeptical as the next person, but given that he had 6 months to live he had nothing to lose.

So who knows, a poor diagnoses or the healer did his job!
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought. Ea

Ah wasn't having a go at you, just in general. It appears MR2 has proven me wrong anyways 😀

It's a MIRACLE!

The cures I witnessed involved wearing some boys sweaty shirt that he hadn't changed in days and rubbing spit into a lamb that was almost already dead!

Hard to believe in any of it.

With all the talk of warts we should be on the lookout for witches

I remember having an envelope full of soil put under my pillow as a child because it was supposed to cure short sightedness. It came from the grave of some Saint I think.

Decades later I'm still blind without contact lenses.

Tyrone people are mad for this stuff though. It's mental. I had an ex (who had a degree in the healthcare field) argue black and blue that this crap worked. And would fall out with anyone that disagreed. Her whole family were the same though.

Any successes are probably a mixture of of would have gotten better anyway and in some cases helped along with the placebo effect.

Exactly, anytime its "worked" it's always been a self limiting minor ailment that would usually resolve itself anyway (eg. cough).

Warts are caused by a virus and they can go away all of a sudden so it can be easily put down to something like a cure. My father went to get cure for sciatica in his 20s and said it worked - hard to argue with someone's reasoning.

I'm maybe a bit sceptical because a man with a cure local to here was accused of child abuse. Dirty aul c**t. I was taken to him for a cure for psorasis and it made no difference.

One thing back on him was you couldn't pay him because that broke the charm, same as saying thankyou. There's a few now taking a fair few pound for a charm.

That's because all the real soil on the grave of the saint was dug up years ago!
If at first you don't succeed, then goto Plan B

Some ailments may be psychological or misdiagnosed by doctors. Industrial medicine doesn't cover everything.
