They've gone up in price alright.
I got mine for under €100 delivered on the German eBay site.
Trendalarm24 was the seller...

2002 when we were " the pin up boys of Gaelic football". ;D
That team fizzled out, didn't it? I suppose 2001 was a sucker punch
there is a line in one of the Galway videos in Laochra Gael where someone I think it was Ja Fallon
says "there was no way Roscommon were going to beat us twice"

They didn't even beat us once over 140 minutes in 1998. Galway lads have always been good at posturing.
You always have an answer for everything don't ya. A little dig at Mayo or Galway in every single thread. Tiresome. Get that chip off the shoulder there good lad

QuoteBut Ireland is a small country and is getting smaller as roads are getting better. I don't get it that lads from Mayo etc. have to transfer to Dublin clubs.
I take your point on this but at the same time it's not an easy thing to do long term.
I myself was based in Dublin for 2 years, trained during the week in Dublin and went home for matches. My brother is doing the same thing right now as well.
Now my girlfriend was based at home as well so it was easier for me to be coming home most weekends. And I had absolutely no interest in playing football for any club but my home club.
But after a couple of years of doing that - if you are going to be living long term in Dublin - I don't think it's a realistic choice to be coming home every weekend or certainly 3 out of every 4 weekends anyway.

Put it this way - that was over 10 years ago for me & I'm still playing club football now. I know that wouldn't be the case now if I was still living in Dublin. I know that I wouldn't have been able to sustain it over the longer term. You can't settle and have a proper life somewhere if you are gone "home" every weekend. It's not feasible imo

QuoteGalway were a lot more open at the back than most other counties, and probably usually Galway themselves, are at this level
That has been one of our main problems over the last 5 years.
We don't have a good full back line to begin with and we compound that issue by leaving ourselves wide open at the back.
You could maybe say something for that if you had a particularly good set of inside backs but we simply don't.
We don't seem to be progressing really.

Michael Daly sent off AGAIN for Galway u21s tonight.
I know he's a young lad but Jesus you'd think he'd have learned his lesson by now.
He is going to be targeted and needs to find a way to stop reacting and getting himself sent off if he wants to have any kind of county career.

Looking like Ros will walk away with this.
Please NEVER let Gerry Fahy near a Galway team ever again.
Serial failure

Didn't see the listed subs so not sure what our depth is like. Colin Brady started last year wing forward and is underage again. Not sure if he is injured or out of favour.
Wing back last year Dylan Corbett didn't make the panel this year.

Galway Ros is a tough game to call.
Not really sure how Galway have been going recently to be honest.
We're a bit of an unknown quantity.
Plenty of the 2013 minors not involved now.my own club had 4 on that panel and none of them are on this u21 squad for various reasons.
There should still be plenty of talent to work with.
Gerry Fahy as manager on the other hand - I wouldn't be too positive about.
Been there done that at both minor and u21 level before and was a disaster.
Hopefully that can change this year

Sure it was 93? Surprised Derry and Galway would have been in the same division back then given Derry won the AI that year.
We were in the 3rd division around then I think?
Definitely wasn't Savo alright.98 was his first season playing county senior.
It's true that Sean og and even Tomas Mannion played a number of games in the forwards for us in the early 90s.
In saying that it doesn't have to be a forward who gets the goals I guess 😄

I'd be more confident if Flynn was in charge again this year.
Gerry Fahy has been there before both with the minors and u21s (and had the benefit of a lot of talent in all of those years) and has been a disaster!
Can't see the reasoning behind giving him the job again.

Not sure how our lads are shaping up this year so far.
Our last 3 minor teams were decent but not sure what the drop off rate in the meantime has been.
Certainly I know several of the starters from the 2013 minors are not on the panel now.

Would be very surprised if the Mitchels don't win the final

Would Douglas make it onto the Mayo team? He can score, unlike a few of the forwards on the county side
I think all of the scores Douglas got tonight were frees. What Mayo seniors need is more free scoring forwards from play.

I think he has matured well. He was always able to bag a score but his decision making used to be an issue imo. He sees the fuller picture now I think.

Scoring from play is what you want and Douglas will do that given time and space. The trick for top teams and coaches is to create space for their finishers. Something we re not good at. Meanwhile we give the marquee guy on the other side the freedom of the park to work his magic. Compare the looseness Jamie Clarke got to work his magic to the dogging likes of Douglas and Kirby got. If Jamie Clarke was given that space to play every day I don t think he would be travelling as much.

Douglas will get a run with Mayo again I think. Maybe 4/5 of that Castlebar team have something to offer. Durkin will take something else to keep him off the starting 15.

Remember seeing Durkan playing for the Mayo minors on TV in Croker a few years back & taking note of his name. He looked a definite senior county player that day.
Excellent player

How did Michael Daly play?
Extravagantly talented but perhaps a little hot and cold?
Hope he can push on and make a decent Galway senior.

I hope Fermanagh stay up. Usually I would have Galway favourites for promotion (at the start of the league), but I don't know about them this year. They will still be there or thereabouts. They missed the Corofin contingent for a lot of last year's league campaign. It will be interesting to see if they can upset the Tyrone applecart.
We won't have many Corofin lads involved Farr I would say. Liam Silke & Gary Sice (who is only just about to return to county training now I think) are about it.
Lundy gone to New York and Daithi Burke playing with the hurlers again this year.
I would doubt if any other Corofin lads will force themselves in. Guys like the Farraghers & Ronan Steede whilst very good players are a step below county senior standard in my personal opinion.
