GAA Discussion / Is the Full Forward Line Dead?
July 18, 2016, 02:23:43 PM
There used to be a time when every kid wanted a county jersey with 14 on the back, I know i certainly did.  To me, the main man always wore number 14.  Past stars like Peter Canavan & Pauric Joyce made it their own.  You went to the game to see the man in 14, its was all about the full forward line, thats where the exciting player was, thats where the action was.

Looking at a few of the games over the weekend, its now become the worst line on the field to play.  You couldn't help but feel sorry for the likes of McAliskey, Ronan Oneill and Patrick McBreaty playing in those positions yesterday, you really are fighting a lone battle and living of scraps for the majority of the game.  Players out the field might touch the ball  up to 20 or more times in the game.  The man in the FF line would be lucky if he touches it 5.  The pass in nearly has to be perfect and your first touch has to be impeccable otherwise you are gobbled up.

Im not saying I dont like the way the game is played because I really do but I would not be envious of anyone playing in a FF line at the moment, its just bound to be so frustrating after a while.

Is our beloved full forward line dead? Is the beautiful number 14 now an iron vest?

Going to be a barnstormer of a quarter final this.  Local derby, Monaghan after winning their 2nd Ulster in 3 years and Tyrone progressing nicely in the qualifiers.

I see Tyrone having too much for Monaghan who are most definitely over reliant on the brilliant Conor McManus for scores.  Tyrone have a better arsenal for getting scores through Seany Cavanagh, McCurry, McAliskey, Matty Donnelly & Petey Harte which is why I think they will win.  Think Monaghan really pushed the boat out yesterday and great credit to them but its going to be difficult for them to get back up to that level again.  What stands to them though is that they won Ulster 2 years ago so this year the focus might be a bit better going into a quarter final with that novelty of winning a trophy gone. O'Rourke is a shrewd operator but I think Tyrone's overall talent should see them through.

General discussion / Skybox receiver
March 26, 2014, 01:07:00 PM
Anyone have any of these?  There seems to be a range of them?  I just checke dthis one out on amazon but can anyone point me in the direction of the best / most reliable one?  I already have a satellite dish from the actual SKY plugged up so I presume I can use this for the skybox receiver?

General discussion / Gas Suppliers
March 03, 2014, 02:31:05 PM
Wondering if anyone can help me.  Ive just moved into a new house in lisburn that is heated with Phoenix gas.  Now, ive been told that I have to choose a gas supplier which has thrown me a bit?  I thought Phoenix where the supplier and all bills and charges would come directly from them but apparently not.

The 2 suppliers are Airtricity & Firmus energy.  Does anyone have any experince with either supplier and which is better?

Also, I have not assigned any supllier yet but yet my heating is still running so who is paying for that gas between the time the building contractor signs off and I choose my new supplier?  Am I getting free gas at the minute?

GAA Discussion / Gumshield / Mouth Guards
January 21, 2014, 01:56:26 PM
Whats everyone's opinion on the new Gumshield / Mouth Guard rule?

Personally I hate the thought of them as Ive never wore one in my life and just see them as more of an inconvenience as its one extra thing to remember to bring on match day.  Also, I'm going to assume they affect your breathing which at 30 years of age, I need all the oxygen in my lungs I can get when playing.   A mouth guard will surely limit my intake of glorious air resulting in a probable blackout mid match some time this year.

Rediculous rule IMO TBF

December 11, 2013, 02:37:19 PM
Its that time of the year where we are all struggling to think of gift ideas for family and friends so maybe we can all help each other out here in this thread.

Any suggestions for a pregnant wife as I'm fresh out of ideas...

On another note, see below link for gift set from boots that was £50 and now selling for £16 online.

Maybe we can all help each other out with bargains and gift ideas like the one above  ;D

Thinking of going down to the captial this Saturday with the woman.
Anyone recommend a nice hotel to stay in and also where to go for a lively night out or if there are any concerts or anything like that on that could entertain us for a night?

All replies welcome  8)
