Arguing against net spend is simply ridiculous.

No point in trying to reason with someone who takes no notice of net spend. Their either on the wind up or very naïve.

I just don't understand how Van Gaal has allowed our defence to be down in numbers this season as well as our strikeforce considering we are going to be playing more games this season.

He doesn't like huge squads, we've got 4 central defenders now we that Blind is classed as one although 5 if you include McNair. Rojo will provide cover for Shaw too whilst we've got 2 rightbacks. Its the quality of those centre half's that worry me as opposed to quantity. We do look a player short upfront/wide though, we've got Depay, Young, Mata, Rooney, Wilson & Martial for 3 positions, that's certainly a player short when I wouldn't consider Mata a natural wide player and considering the age of Wilson & Martial. He's very reliant on both youngsters making impacts this season. I do expect Perriera to play out wide this season when given the chance but once again he's an unproven youngster.

Utd now have only 3 strikers. 2 of them 19.  :o

You'll win nothing with kids!

LVG is pure ket..................... A spoofer of the highest order, I look at the business Pellegrini has done compared to LVG and the united boss has been found wanting.

I do not think LVG will be at United come seasons end, he cannot get along with the players and he seems to be building for a future he will have no part of, the man is vastly overrated at this stage of his career.

Stew - that's a ridiculous comparison. Pellegrini has an established squad, one of the best in Europe, that only needed a couple of addition plus getting their heads out of their holes.

Van Gaal is rebuilding a club left in shite by Ferguson (and to some extent Moyes).

LVG has spent about £130m since he came in whilst reducing the wage bill and average age of the squad. Pellegrini inherited a far better squad with top class players like Hart, Zabaletta, Kompany, Toure, Silva & Aguero and has still spent well over £200m.

I'm happy we're going in the right direction, we won't win the title this season but have a squad capable of finishing with more points than last season.

Buying big names is not always the way to go, if 13 months ago we were told we'd sign Di Maria, Falcao & Schweinsteiger in the next 12 months nobody would have believed that. Going forward the club are in a good position to buy any big name who becomes available but this summer there weren't any big names available.

If United don't spend any more in January the club are looking at pre tax profit of about £150m for the 2015/16. As long as LVG can qualify in the top 3 the Glazers will be delighted with the job LVG is doing.

I thought I seen on SSN that he had spent closer to £250 million?

That'll likely have been his total spend, transfers out will take it back to the £130m figure. They have also taken approaching £1m a week off the wage bill over the course of this transfer window, £50m a year!!!! The last line of Maroons post is the most striking..

The wages are a huge factor in transfer these days as opposed to 15-20 years ago. The Glazers were always happy if wages were about 50% of turnover, considering wages are thought to be around £202m for the 2014/15 season and looking at it this summer we must have taken at least another £10m of it this summer. Considering turnover will probably rise to circa £490m for the 2015/16 season that would leave wages at about 40% of turnover.  The Glazers will over the moon if he finishes top 3 again, I'd imagine our sponsors will be looking for more though, they'll be wanting big name signings over the next 12 months.

As long as there's improvement than the fans will stay of his back, I do think with the injection of pace Martial & Wilson will provide that the quality of football will improve.

SSN didn't bother mentioning that he sold RVP, Di Maria, Kagawa, Evans, Nani, Rafael, Buttner, Hernandez, Reece James, Michael Keane, Tom Lawrence, Henriquez, Bebe, Evra, Zaha & Wellbeck which raised well over £100m. He's knocked over £20m a year from the wage bill since he arrived too. The Glazers will be delighted with him.

Hadn't come across Drake before Sunday. Would he generally be regarded as a forward, midfielder or defender?
Wing back under Horan in the league. Saw him playing midfield for Ballaghadereen in the club championship earlier in the summer. Wasn't in the 26 for the Donegal game. Didn't see that decision to start him coming.

Maybe his brother in law swayed the management.

Will Gavin start Bastick around the middle? I reckon Dublin would have won it if he hadn't got the black card.

I'd have imagined so.

Pat and Noel getting off lightly in my book, they must be delighted the Dubs have taken all the attention.

If Connolly had one what COC had done it would have got more attention but I like all other neutrals doesn't think it would warrants a ban as in the context of what was happening to him it looks like he was trying to get free of his marker albeit been slightly reckless at the same time. COC is lucky he's not perceived as a dirty player even though he saw red in last years replay and was lucky not to be sent off in the final in 2012.

As far as I can see what COC did was an isolated incident as opposed to the several incidents of dirty and cynical play from the Dubs.

You missed the bit where he hit Connolly on the ground during the Keegan incident.  Don't why he doesn't just try and ref the game as he never stops at the referee.

I've watched it several times and it doesn't look like COC hit Connolly.

We look a bit light up front but I'd rather Wilson get his chance ahead of the likes of Hernandez, RVP and Falcao. I've seen a lot of Wilson over the last few years and I'll be very surprised if he doesn't become an important member of the first team squad in the next few years.

All of a sudden we've had a shambolic transfer window even though their was no mention of this last week and we're in a better position this week with De Gea staying and swapping Hernandez whom I was desperate to get rid of for Martial who is one of Europe's most promising youngsters.

We've not got enough to challenge for the title unless Martial and Wilson both really step up in the next few week which is probably unlikely but you never know. Realistically City look like they'll walk the title, I do think we've got enough to finish second given Arsenal haven't strengthened that much and Cheslea have gone backwards. If we were to finish 2nd, win either the FA or a League Cup and get to the last 8 of the European Cup this season will have been a success.

Too many posts to go trawl through but have any of the dubs admitted their team been extremely cynical yesterday?

Sure it's only us Mayo men who are biased, according to Aristocrat.

Bias wrong word, Dub hatred more exact. David Brady prime example, read his piece in the star today, umblinkered and come back to me.

I wouldn't take Brady too serious, his own people don't take too much notice of him.

The Dubs rightly so have attracted plenty of praise for the way they've played the game in recent years and yesterday should be slaughtered for that cynical performace.

28 posts from one simpleton on here recycling the same old nonsense.

COC certainly has a dark side to him but like most other neutrals I don't think yesterday's actions warrants a ban.

It's not the first time Keegan has got involved in a wrestling match, he was involved twice in the match against Galway.

Barely anyone is talking about it, when the GAA even mentioned the issue the Dubs were up in arms and it was quickly shut up about. Mayo and Dublin fans are going into this game without a thought on the unfair advantages they have on most other counties. It's a major issue and a major reason why these 3 counties are the only teams left in the championship but it's being treated as a minor, insignificant add on. The media wont speak of it, the counties involved wont speak of it and worse, the rest of the counties wont speak of it. That's why nothings been done to remedy the situation and nothing will be done.

create a new topic.

I might just do that, I'm sure it will not be full of people trying to silence, deflect or give me any abuse. :D

In fairness the Dubs get plenty of stick about their budget but what Kerry & Mayo appear to spend goes unnoticed.

I honestly couldn't give a f**k about who's spending what, can we just discuss the football go complain about the economics somewhere else

You're hardly the one to discuss anything, most of your posts barely pass beyond one sentence.
