Dublin marathon has moved to a lottery system for next year

Seen that.
I was hoping to do it again next year which would be 3rd in a row and 5th time in 7 years,would be a shame to miss out after doing it so many times. Should be a system in place that if you have ran it a few times that you are guarenteed an entry or would that be asking too much?
I agree with the Bearded One also.I'm not sure there is even a need for a lottery. I apply for London every year along with 400k others for 50k odd spots.
I doubt Dublin,as good a race as it is, would have even 50k applicants

From what I heard the organisers want the lottery to force Dublin city councils hand to either change the route/accomodate more people. Current start/finish area is at capacity.

I'm told from someone who should be a reliable source that two of the committee have a business interest in the Sports travel international company - who sell marathon entry packages. Hopefully it's not going down that route.

I've just watched snippets of it but Joe has well and truly burned his bridges with RTE following his interview with Joe.ie.

I thought it was a great interview. Full of his usual stories that are probably all half true but I still find the man fascinating. A psychologist would have some craic working out what goes on in his head.

He is great craic even if no-one really took him seriously and thought half the stories were made up.

The problem was he didn't seem to understand you cannot personally insult someone on live TV and get away with it, even if the previous Head of sport was a great guy.

Even if the top CB guys were hopelessly out of their depth, why wouldn't they engage with a commercial 3rd party to act on their behalf?.

I love when a new board member joins for a specific purpose . I am not attacking o leary at all I know nothing about the man other the article posted here earlier from the daily mail.
my uneasiness come's from the fear he is a tourist with no credentials other than money  and to Quote Shania twain ' that don't impress me much'
Much as people seem to distrust the county board they are Elected by the counties club are are answerable to those clubs . people like o leary  are answerable to no one .
While he money is welcome he should have no say in the running of Mayo GAA other than advisory and stop trying to shame the CB

Its no wonder the County Treasurer cant produce a Balance sheet with the amount of money coming in hand over fist.

Not really,JP McManus' gave a €100,000 donation to each county.
Enclosed in each envelope was an the accompanying note outlining how the money is for the development of GAA across the country and to be divided equally among clubs.

We seen similar in Kildare a few years ago with the guy who put up the apartment for Seanie - he wanted a vote on the county management committee. Are these people just driven by ego or is it inept fundamentals at the county board level?

If we want to have the funding discussion lets have it but it has to be balanced.

Is the funding (most of it cash) from the counties with big supporters clubs included in the annual figures?
What about cash from 'influential backers' such as those alluded to in getting rid of Stephen Rochford?
Do the Ulster counties get funding from multiple sources - Westminster/GAA HQ and Ulster council?
What happened to the (heavily funded by Intel) Kildare underage development scheme in the 90's? Cash get misplaced?
Are Kildare still getting six figure grants from Intel for their schools and clubs and if so, where is this money going?

What money from Intel? Can you provide a link to these figures?
