What do you say to your players after a tanking like that?

Ask Derek McGrath, he did it after the Munster final

Not even remotely the same.

Why not?

Because it involved a traditional hurling county??

To be fair it's not. If waterford played tipp ten times i doubt you'd see that hammering again. Play this game ten times same result every time.

Is there not a b championship?

Rossfan

There is a B Championship.
Time for Antrim to join it.
Also time for Galway to play in all the Leinster grades.
Davy's given us a dream to cling to
We're going to bring home the SAM

My point is that change is ever only required when a northern county is involved but when it happens to a hurling county then there isn't a word.

Yes, the hurling structures need looked at as much as Antrim were well off the pace, they'll not play opposition of that standard for another year so nothing is learned.

I'd ban senior intercounty hurlers from tier 1 counties for two reasons, player burnout and secondly other hurlers in that county would get a crack at it and it may level the playing field.

What did Waterford learn about Austin Gleeson in the U21's this year?

I agree with you but I am pretty sure winning an All Ireland u-21 would be a big thing for him, and obviously Waterford
"When it's too tough for them, it's just right for us"

imtommygunn

I see your point johnney but at this stage of the competition it only ever seems to be ulster teams getting the tanking. Hammerings in a first round are one thing but at this stage a bit different. It is more apparent because it tends to be live due to the late stage in the competition.

I also see your point on gleeson for example but i would agree with minder. Realistically guys like him may never in a senior ai and if you deny them at this stage i think it is a bit harsh.

Will be a Mayo v Meath B championship final. The two semi finals was played yesterday very few seem to notice they were on at all and only a few hundred attended the games. GAA men in suits decided to keep the U21 hurling championship while scrap the football, strange that..

Kildare minors took some shalacking there, is it time to restructure the minors with Leinster minors in a B championship?
